the powershift shuttle lever (left hand) is in neutral. (and the switch also thinks it's in neutral)

did you check fuses?

Just finished checking the fuses (one by one) all are good!

All levers in neutral.

Still just a single "click" when key is turned to start position. The click is in the same area as the key ( on the left side).

No other noise or activity.

Next step VOM!

Maybe unscrew the dash cover and make sure all the wires are connected to the key switch?

Will start unscrewing!

Sounds like the key switch, if it's anything like the smaller frame tractors'. No lights are dimming when you turn to start, means no current going to any device. We'll know soon, no doubt...
good luck, Jim

Place volt meter on starter solenoid and turn key to start; should see 12 volts when key is turned to start. If you have 12 volts; time to check starter. If no voltage present; time to back track to ignition switch and see if you have voltage coming in/out of ignition switch. You may have a defective relay.

Doc, try just tapping on the starter. Sometimes they land on a place which can't get current to it. Old trick, but sometimes it works.
