I split it Thu/Fri.
Can you say Murphy's law? Anything and everything that could go wrong did, but I got it apart.
I have never dealt with a two stage clutch before. I had a hard time figuring out how to get the throw out bearings out.
The first bearing was frozen up and had a part of the bearing cage sticking out. I thought it would all be gone due to the lack of pedal pressure. Due to it not spinning, it killed the pressure plate fingers.
I bought the whole clutch kit. I did not think I was bending over when I walked in but, I guess they did, so they stuck it to me for close to $1500. If I knew what I was doing, I would have shopped around.
They did not have the alignment tool. I am not sure how I am going to get the clutch plate in the right spot. That is just one problem.
The first and bigger problem is the pilot bearing. It felt ruff so I am going to replace it. On cars, I have always filled the hole with grease and put a hole size bolt in it, and hit the bolt with a hammer. The pressure on the grease would drive the bearing out of the crankshaft. This did not work. I am guessing the inter seal was gone because the grease went though the bearings and out past the front seal. Don't know what I am going to do now.
Any Ideas?
At this point I think I am going to try a slide hammer. Then maybe destroying the inter race and bearing cage to where just the outside race is there. At which point I will try the slide hammer again. Then maybe a drimmel tool, cutting it to where I can get it to fracture. Or maybe putting a weld bead on half of the race.
Next question, The longer inside transmission shaft came out about a foot when I split the tractor. I pulled it out about 2 more feet, thinking I could use it for the alignment tool. Then I wondered if there were gears on the shaft that would or did fall off when I pulled it so far out.
Can anyone help me on this?
