To chain or not to chain that is the question.

Roy this was the exact reason I made the post, I am concerned about clearance there's not alot there and the body is around $3.800 to replace, not doing that!!! I may have to for-go the chains. I'll look on you tube when I get home from work. By the way thanks to all the vetrans for their service to our country. Mark

I had a MF 1225 and had no clearance for chains so I had a buddy at a machine shop make spacers to fit on the hub with longer bolts and never had a problem , Hope this helps

I run chains on the back tires of my Bobcat after I spent one year plowing without them, never will do that again. Chains are magic - it is like operating an entirely different piece of equipment.

Yeah, but if you look at a 1030, the problem is more top of tire to fender clearance...especially at the lip.

I plowed for years without chains and got by.
Several years ago I put chains on my DK front and rear. Unbelievable differance.
No more spinning,skidding, sliding around for me.
Chains all the way!!

i had the same dilemma last year with my new DK45 and the snow plow. I tried plowing without the chains on my 4x4 tractor, and the front end was pushed all over the place when the blade was turned to either side.

With the chains....no more pushing of tractor. im sold on chains.

They kinda do. They do help steer a bit if you get the studded type. I know the ladders might not be as good unless there studded. I know on my FWA montana even with it not locked in it helps a fair bit.

I don't need chains for my property, so I don't have them and we get 15 to 30 feet of snow. I have one slight area where chains would be nice, but I just blow that area going downhill. Unless you have a serious hill and you know you will need why get them automatically? They are a hassle to install.

My Mahindra 4WD host goes sideways on our icy hills. Just had custom rear wheel spacers made to allow rear wheel chains.
