Everytime we put up a chain... it would eventually be cut... once, someone even cut the oak it was fastened to.

City cut it and removed it once... I saw the truck driving away and followed all the way to corporation yard...

The driver said he was checking the property... I said it is private and posted... he said no... it is parkland... had to go into the map office and of course I was right... city gave me new chain.

If no one is there to protect and enforce... it can be a free for all even from those that should know better.

Police simply don't respond anymore... back when they did... I was spreading crushed gravel and the police showed up and asked if I worked for the park and I said no... then I had to show ID and I'm trying to find out what is going on... they were going to cite me for spreading a yard of crushed stone on my land... actually my backyard as my home is attached but accessed from another street.

Just remember a fire truck or ambulance might need to get to your house and you might not be able to open up anything. Don't leave traps or nails. Have a code on file with the FD or a lock that is cuttable. Definitely get a "no trespassing sign" if you want any laws to be enforced.

You seemed to imply that the ROW was OWNED by the power company. That may be IN YOUR STATE. It's not where I am.

Right. I pay taxes on my ROW, the county and the utility companies don't. They have right of way on it, but I own it.

around here you can use a knox box, that is keyed for your firehouse. then one of your keys is put in the box, so the firehouse has access to your key at your location.

In Va showing up with a gun is brandishing a firearm, 6 mounts jail time, point it at them and it is assault, I don't know how long and don't want to know.
I don't get that, seems if your on your property doing some plinking, it's not likely you'd lay your gun in the weeds before going up to talk to some folks that happen on to your place. For sure not pointing at them as that is not safe.

My neigbour has an access road to the back of his proprty, No trespassing at start and every 500 ft or so, its not his driveway but some parts can be seen from his house. He borrowed my saw one day and waited. About a week later he returned the saw and told me how he had dropped a large tree across the road after they drove up, he told them he planned on cutting it up in a few days. they had to pay big bucks to get set free. they had put apple baits and salt licks out to attrack deer for the season. They never came back

The way I understand Va law and I am a retired farmer so this is not something to stand on in court, is if you have a gun in your hand it is brandishing if you point it at them it is assault.

So if a hunter is trespassing he can be arrested for brandishing?

So if a hunter is trespassing he can be arrested for brandishing?

How do you know he is a hunter? Maybe he is a thief posing as a hunter.
