Ballast To load or not to load. That is the question.

/ To load or not to load. That is the question. #61
Tractor shop I use has say a 5 gallon tank you unscrew the lid, fill you antifreeze in it, replace the lid and then use air pressure to push the antifreeze in the tire. I bought the anti freeze there and they loan me the tank. Even told me how much needed for the size of my tire. Then top fill the water.
If your TSC does not have the valve which I am 99% sure they do go to NAPA and they do.

Thanks KT

Pretty sure with the SKU number TSC can get me one. I do have a NAPA just 15 minutes away though.

Had tires loaded this week, he said it was beat juice but mixed with something so it doesn't get to thick in the colder weather. He called it agralime or something? I'm pretty sure they are using vodka to thin it down.
This added somewhere between 800 to 900 lbs:)
While doing this I flipped the rims and gained probably 8 to 10" in width. I didn't measure before but I really like the extra width.
Welded on some pipe nipples for valve stem protection, I'll paint it when things warm and dry up some, next June probably.

Well, unless it gets to below -35* F, you wouldn't have to worry about freezing. My guess would be that it is easier and cheaper for them to fill with a diluted mixture.

Its always interesting to note that no one ever talks about the sloshing, waterbed like feeling and the definite increased compacting that occurs. The sloshing forward and backward needs to be paid attention to.

That said, my tires are filled. I decided that stability on the slants and tilts and hills, was more important than the occasional unfortunate tracks I may leave in my wake.

We have never talked about the sloshing waterbed like feeling, because we have never heard nor felt any such thing.

Since sloshing has been mentioned...Is it wise to always fill rear tires to the valve stem or do some choose to only 50% fill their tires.
I am about to load mine before winter. The tire shop strongly advises filling to the top.

Sometimes I can hear fuel sloshing in the fuel tank when I park the tractor ( my truck does it worse ). Aside from that it’s a solution looking for a problem.

Have never had a sloshing sound, feeling or problem with the Rimguard in my rears.
