I have two freezers full of food. That's ample reason to worry about the grid.
Get a generator then. The electric companies will love to sell charging power for ev they'll find the grid problems and fix them to make those dollars. I'm not going to spend one minute worrying about the grid or evs.

When the government gives up Air Force 1 and all the limousines and SUV's and go electric...that's when I'll consider it
“Leadership by example”
The politicians pushing (or mandating) electric vehicles have no concept of cause and effect. When you add a huge electric demand to the grid without first adding the capacity to grid to handle this huge load, the effect will be long power outages and brownouts.

Buy your standby generators to keep your freezers going now if you don't already have one.
Thats part of their plan.

The grid problem will become your problem, unless you are off the grid, because the problem is lack of power generating capacity, not distribution. New plants are 10+ years in the making. They just took a large nuclear plant offline in Michigan, not to be fired back up. What is it going to be replaced with?? The mid-west was already looking at rolling outages due to lack of capacity BEFORE they took this plant off line.

There have to be standards. Plug-ins ALL THE SAME. Battery types have to be set up in the same way we set up AA, C and D. Batteries need to be easily replaceable. And the batteries can not be proprietary.

Just across the line in NC people like to burn plastic/Styrofoam/trash/tires because they don't have city trash pick up. Does that mean I should do the same?

I didn't think that his comment deserved a response. We are fortunate enough to be tied into the Canadian grid, which is much more reliable than what most of our state has to put up with. Some would like to change that, as they feel that "We should all be in the New England network."
