Today's new cars are way overpowered...

250HP? I think that's what my starter is rated for on my BBC.
I've never driven anything that had too much horsepower.
I want more HP for my tractor, my truck, my other truck, my lawn tractor, my ZTR, my weed eater, my chain saw, my generator, my other generator, my other chain saw, my golf cart, my leaf blower...
My wife drives a Hemi and she wants more HP too.

My daily driver is a 404HP GMC P/U...Wife wants a hot small block in her Nova....I want a 502 to replace the 396 in my Chevelle...The slowest thing we own is our Hummer....Too much HP?....What does that mean? Me no understand

Being a classic car collector/restorer, I don't understand too much power, I do understand to little driver ability sometimes, though.

Just read the latest issue of Car and Driver, they did a report on the 2016 Chevy Malibu Premier...get this: 250 hp 2 liter four cylinder turbo charged and intercooled, they said it will do a standing quarter mile in 14.7 seconds and has a top speed of 156 mph (drag limited) but only delivers 20 mpg overall.

Well...my 2004 Saturn L-300 has only 180 hp from a 3.0 liter V6 yet it will do a standing quarter mile in 14.9 seconds, and deliver 23 mpg in mainly city driving. I have never checked the top speed for obvious reasons.

What is the purpose of building a 250 horsepower car that will go 156 mph yet only gets 20 mpg overall? Simply inane...

BTW, the Malibu C&D tested weighed 3307 pounds...my Saturn with a full tank of fuel weighs 3357 pounds

and.... Your Saturn is a dinosaur thats not made anymore.....

My take on power versus humans is, keep your right foot off the loud pedal. Discretion is an adult thing.

I have a '75 Formula that was an old door slammer road course car, it was capable of over 1 G, and would stop on warm brakes from 70 so fast your eyeballs would pop out, but in the hands of a bad driver, it doesn't matter.
