TODAYS SEAT TIME

Another half hour running my hiller through my potato patch. Light rain started as I was finishing up. I have nineteen 90 ft. rows for me and 4 cousins. I have nine 90 ft. rows of sweet corn for us. They raise other stuff. We trade off at picking time.

Hilled my potatoes again today. Hour and one half running my cultivator through my corn patch and one of my cousin's gardens, including side dressing fertilizer beforehand.

Somewhere around an hour and a half tilling a garden last evening for a neighbor .
Drove the BX1500 there about 3/4 mile on the state highway and approximate 1/4 mile on a county road to his place.
Come to find out he graduated with me in the MHS 1959 high school class .
This was 2 new adventures for me .
I had never used the tiller to till a garden for me or anyone else before.
I had never driven a tractor out on the road before either.
Discovered the guy had been my neighbor since the mid to late 1960s and I had been in that house back in the early 60s because the fellow who previously owned that place is the one who enlisted in the ONG with me back in 1963.
It was a great fun reminiscing evening.
I didn't charge him anything because the Lord blessed me by sending 2 of my next door neighbors to help me back in Dec. when I had a stroke so I owed him one.

Three hours digging trenches for electrical lines and four hours moving sand for a friend. Add in two hours travel each way and that makes for a long day, but still had fun.

Half hour disking a fallow field that will be next year's potato field. I let the grass and weeds sprout, then I disk, sprout and disk, so on. Hopefully next year the field will be clean. One hour using my box blade to pull up a pile of loose dirt to haul to my new house to finish getting my front sidewalk area ready for move in.

Another afternoon yesterday bush hogging a pasture, seems like a pretty popular (or is that necessary ?) use of seat time this time of year? We've got some pretty big anthills , maybe a foot and a half tall and two feet in diameter. There's a few good thumps and some ants flying when the mower hits 'em.

.5 hr removing the grass from one end of the yard, need more room for veggie beds.

.5 hr clearing deadfall off of an old barn foundation behind the house - maybe gonna build a new barn.

A few more hours on the clock, and the fields are mowed. Total mowing time, maybe 8 hours in total this spring.
