I'm in the market for a MX5400 or MX6000 (HST) with loader. Kubota still lists the equine discount on their website. I called the nearest Kubota dealer to me and inquired whether they had any on the lot and their price. MX6000 with cab 35,500. MX5400 34,250. Loader an additional 5700. I then asked about whether they were still running the equine discount. He said all the discounts were already factored in... I interpreted that to mean "no".

I won't say the guy was really rude but he certainly didn't seem too interested in spending any extra time with me than the 3 minutes I received. I know it was a phone call rather than me showing up in person, but I own a business and 8-5 time is a limited commodity. I try hard to do business local but when I call and inquire about spending 35-40k at your business I guess I expect you to act like you're happy I called. Sorry, don't mean to vent.

How were the prices I was quoted? Are there dealers out there still offering the equine discount (as it appears on the Kubota website)? I'm a cash buyer if that helps. I'm in northeast Arkansas and would entertain recommendations for dealers within a reasonable distance.

arkvet The Equine discount is offered this year as well. Sign up fir the NCHA membership which is free for the first year. Find the msrp of your tractor and options. Subtract 20%. Add dealer prep which will vary depending on options. Add dealer freight and that will be your OTD price. Plus tax if not exempt.

Yours is the first post I recall seeing to mention the 'downside' or offsets to the Equine discount, dealer charges & freight. Interesting. So 20% could become 15% in a hurry I suspect.

Jethro, prior to getting my quotes with the equine discount I first emailed my 2 closest dealers for a quote. They both came back within a few dollars of each other at about 11% off msrp. Both dealers had line item for dealer prep (taking tractor and components from shipping skid to completed tractor/Installing all my options) Both had a line Item for freight. One dealer had a PDI fee also. It would've been included in my price whether I used my equine discount or not. The dealer I used did not charge for a PDI.
