Tooth Bar Question

It appears to be sturdy. One unusual aspect of this design (unlike "standard" bars) is that the tooth bar's flat plate (or "gum" I suppose, to extend the analogy) becomes the new cutting edge. This is good in that it protects the bucket's own edge, but it's not as as sharp. Whether I will notice any impact of that I can't say.

This is the first I had picked up on the fact that in addition to being flat on the bottom it also incorporates a cutting edge, but of course it makes sense once I saw the picture and had a chance to think it through. Thanks for those pics, they sure are worth a thousand words!!

Davitk-good point about the cutting edge-all the more reason I wish the WR Long I had been available when I bought my Markham toothbar.

I too wish WR Long sold direct as Nelson Long has been very helpful and responsive to my requests. I bought their valve kit but had to go through Carver Equipment and that just muddied things up.

Hedgy-thanks for posting the good pictures

Here's my BX24 with the Markham..just installed yesterday. Came out great!
I used a drill bit with a pilot hole and some cutting oil...about 2 minutes per hole, drilling slowly and squirting oil when the bit started smoking.

Nice install. Did you weld the side plates?

Wish that info was in the wiki. I called W. R. Long and he was not much help.
I need to get one of these for my L-2800 Kubota with a LA463 loader. Can you give me an idea of what they cost?

The WR Long sure looks like a great tooth bar but my local Kubota Dealer carries a TISCO tooth bar and he says they are even better. I can not find a picture of the TISCO Bar can anyone give me some advise or possibly a photo of the TISCO?

His price is $295 + Tax.

I don't know what the width is of your loader, but assuming you are talking abour the W R Long Flat TB, the 48" length was $300 (inc UPS delivery and tax) from a dealer.

No, not yet, I had a mulch job to do today so I didn't get a chance to get the BX over to a welding shop yet. I do plan to get the plate welded ASAP. Makes sense to do so...

For those still considering the Flat Tooth Bar from from W R Long, I posted installation pictures here.
I went to WR Long site and looked for dealers but most of the dealers they list do not have the WR Long Tooth Bar. Could you please tell me where you got yours and the model since it seems like they have more than one on the WR Long site. I would sure like to have one if I can find a place to buy it.

My dealer was listed as a WR Long dealer but he did not carry them and would not order them. I like the idea of the complete cover of the bucket cutting edge and the flat surface for back grading.

Called WR Long today and they told me my Kubota dealer Jennings Equipment Inc. 800 675-4253 could order the tooth bar from them.
Placed my order with Jennings this morning for the FTB60 W R Long. List price from Long was $292. The flat bottom bar was the one shown in the photos on this site. Looks like a great product that covers the complete bucket edge. Delivery is four to six weeks with shipping to Canyon Creek, Montana at $55. I will post photos when I get it installed.

Hmm. I ordered an FTB48 just last thursday and the dealer said it would take a week. Who told you 4 to 6 weeks? Maybe your dealer is waiting until he accumulates enough WRLong orders to fill a truck in order to save on shipping cost.

I guess I saw that at the WR Long web site. I asked my dealer not to have it delivered by Long until after the 17Th since I will not be at my summer home in Montana until then. The dealer is ordering shipment direct from Long since he is listed as a dealer for Long but he does not stock any Long equipment.
