I got 7 teeth and shanks off of ebay delivered for $165 for my 60" bucket. I picked up a 4"X3/4"X7' of steel for $7 at a local scrap yard (very impressed with that price). My friend welded it up for free (actually a few beers and some Taco Bell).
The 3/4" bar is actually a little too thick (way overkill) and I had to grind on the shank a bit to get them to fit on the cutting edge properly, but it's all the scrap yard had.

Unless you have most of the material sitting in your junkbin, you will ultimately spend almost as much money as just buying one from Markham Welding, and invest quite a bit of time as well.

a couple days ago Melissa Markham quoted me 257.00 plus shipping @ 38.74 = 295.74 for a 7 tooth bar for my 60 inch loader (aprox 58.5 inside length). I havn't had time to get to my tractor (a few miles from where I live) and get an exact measurement to place the order. Hope to today or tomorrow.

Melissa at Markham was very helpful in placing my tooth bar order. I requested an additional tooth be added to my bar. Arrived via UPS in just days. Good company to deal with regardless if you are experienced or a novice.kbota said:

I got 5 teeth on ebay for $90. The steel (new) ran me about $20. I gave the guy who did the welding a bottle of Jack for his time. I figure total cost me $135. If I had a buddy who welded (or drank something less expensive), I could have done the whole thing for $110.

Well, I finally got around to installing the Markham toothbar on the L3010. Fit was perfect. Markham had conveniently bent the mounting tabs inward slightly which made it easy to set the bar in place. I started the tractor and raised the bucket to a good working height, set the toothbar in place, and used a short 2x4 and a two lb shop hammer to "set" it in place. Checked each tooth to make sure it was properly "grabbing" the cutting edge of the bucket, and then used a sharp 1/2" bit to start the mounting holes from the inside. After drilling a dimple, I switched to a 5/16" bit, and punched the first hole. Back to the 1/2" bit, and finished the drilling. Put hardware in place and tightened/torqued everything down well. Fits like a glove.
I'll give it a proper test drive in a couple of weeks.
Markham makes a good product. In response to BarneyZ; No doubt with the right tools, skills, and time, you can build one cheaper, and maybe even of equal quality. My concern with building one was getting the bevel on the mounting strap that the teeth are welded to. That was going to take a long while with a torch/grinder, and quality may suffer as well. No one was saying for someone to not build it yourself. There have been times when my preference was to build things myself as opposed to buying it,....even when the cost was the same. This was just not one of those times for me.
