Top and Tilt, just top, neither? How useful?

Question (probably dumb but I new to the world of modern tractors): What would the "float" be used for in a top and tilt setup?

Bill,

I am not MadRef, but I have been putting together a T&T setup and have incorporated float in it.

From what I can see, although I have not used it yet, float in the top link would be useful with a rotary cutter on rough, wavy ground, where the back end wants to do large excursions up and down, possibly in excess of what the mechanical linkage provides.

For me, I see great promise in float on a tilt cylinder when plowing snow on my driveway where the camber changes. Without float I dig in on one side or the other. I am hopeful that with float the blade will better follow the compound curves I plow.

From what I can see having it available would certainly be worth $50. Sort of a get it now or get it never kind of thing. Once one springs for a control valve, he will probably not want to replace that valve, or valve section, with one that has float. Too expensive. Better to buy it first or forget it, I bet.

I am sure MadRef will have some valuable input on this question too. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nope. My applications have no need for TNT or aux hydraulic float capabilities.

Am I mistaken or are you just trying to twist that daggar in my side? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ah,so! I see now. It would be handy for the new 4' rotary cutter I ordered this afternoon. MadRef may come up with some more reasons but the rotary cutter float alone makes it worth the extra $50.

Thanks, I knew it was something simple that I just hadn't grasped.

No sure about the dagger, but I can say you provide a lot of very useful help on hydraulics here and your voice is always appreciated...

I sincerely mean it!

I guess we do sometimes see things from different angles though... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hello,
Has anyone got the TNT system from integration engineering? I have a kit ordered from them for my new b7800 Kubota and wonder if anyone out there has one.
Thanks,
John

John we purchased our T&T from IE and we have been very satisfied with the cylinders. They use the double piloted check valves on their cylinders and as a result once set they do not drift off their mark.

IE was pleasant and easy to deal with.

I have a T&T on my Kubota L5030 and I use it for attachments I never dreamed needed it. Such as a rotart cutter, backing into a large multifloral bush and being able to raise the back of it so I can climb over it and chew it up.

The box blade is made to have a T&T kit or a helper that runs along side of the tractor and adjust your top link for you.

I have the float valve on my third rear remote and I use it for the batwing finish mower. Once the wings are on the ground, I put the valve in float so the wings can adjust for uneven ground, the same can be said for my 15' wide batwing aerater.

We apologize for the delays but we have received our shipment of hydraulic toplinks and Top & Tilt kits. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Well, after all the good advice, I had the Top and Tilt installed a couple of weeks ago. In the last two days it has really come in handy. We had over 2 feet of snow and the temps have been just over zero. While out plowing snow and clearing driveways etc. in my toasty warm cab, it sure was nice to be able to adjust my rear blade for either a gravel driveway or a concrete/asphalt driveway! With gravel, I needed the rear blade to take much less agressive of a bite, and on the concrete/gravel, I wanted it to really dig in. It was very nice to make those adjustments without having to even open the door of my cab! I guess you can say that I like my T&T already! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
