grab some scrap vinyl, some needle and thread and go to work. duct tape and warm weather won't mix very well. unless you like a sticky butt.

go buy some goop (actual brand name) it's a vinyl/leather "glue". Some times you can also find "tennis shoe repair" which is a similar thing.
at best it will hold the edges together and keep the wet off your foam. At worst it should stop the tear from getting worse.
otoh, you could stop at a farm store and buy a seat cover.

I use black gorilla duct tape. It works pretty good. Still ticked off that a 2005 seat is already tearing up so much.

not a bad idea if you don't mind spending some moola. if you go that route you might want to consider some heavy, water repellent canvas.

The upholstery shop can just stitch it up. If that is too expensive.........go to a sewing shop, buy a curved needle and some tough thread and stitch it yourself.

I wish I had seen Brandi's suggestion before replacing one last year. Could not find replacement seat in stock that was near the suspension of the OEM. But for low cost, get an old rain coat and throw it over the seat. Then when it rains it will be handy and you kept the seat covered.

I always keep my seat tipped forward. It keeps the cats and the sun off of it. After 325 hrs. it looks as good as new.

I keep a towel on both seats with a bungee cord in the summer when wearing shorts. Hot towels are way better than hot vinyl on tender skin.

I remouved mine and used the torn seat as a pattern to copy onto a leather hide.
(You could use other materials)
The leather is warmer in winter and cooler as well as non sticky or clammy in summer.
An added benefit is that it is less slippery to sit in (on).
I saved the trim and used contact cement to glue the leather around the edges, reinstalled the trim and (knock on wood) am so far in my 3rd year since that homebrew repair.
I do treat (feed) the leather with armorall from time to time as well as all the other plastic componants, including my steering wheel.

With a smaller tear, I followed a recommendation from another thread here and used black RTV silicone. Worked like a champ!
I spread it on the foam under the edges of the tear, then pulled the edges together as close as they'd go and embedded them in the RTV. Left to cure for 24 hrs.

Craft and upholstery shops sell vinyl repair tape also. Looks like black electrical tape but much stronger. The rolls I use are about 3" wide. I use it to patch vinyl covers on mattresses and seats at work. It stays on a long time. When we get too many tears then we send it out for recovering. I have a split on my Mahindra seat also. I'm going to bring home some of the tape from work to patch it. I also use a towel on the seat. As a last resort you can buy replacement universal seats at your local tractor supply store and adapt to fit your mount bracket.
