Whenever I can, I have my stuff powder coated rather than paint.
100 times more durable, and the bond is forever.
If you build lots of stuff, develop a relationship with your favorite powdercoating establishment. That way you can drop off small parts that can go in with someone elses larger order, thus avoiding the minimum charge.

That's what I do, and I'm pleased with the results.

How do they PC and 6' bush hog or a set of pattet forks?

Same as anything else

Seriously it depends on your shop. The shop I use can do entire cars, trailers, etc...needless to say they have a massive facility.

If you want paint that cures as hard as steel then get yourself some Hammerite paint. I've used this stuff for 30years and it always gives me excellent results and really is as hard as nails.
Recently Killz has bought them out. But they still produce the same great product under the Hammerite name.
Hammerite has two versions of paint, rust resistant and rust encapsulating.
I use the rust encapsulating on old machinery like my cultivators. It is every bit as good as POR 15 and far, far less expensive.
They have smooth finish and hammered finish and I use both in different applications.
They have a good selelction of colours but don't have any manufacturer's match colours otherwish my bushog and my sickle mower would certainly be painted with it.

Give it a try I know you'll like it.

There is a paint i use when i want toughness It's called INDURA just google the website. This paint is actually plastic and has been used by the Canadian Gov to paint an F_18 fighter jet. About half the price of auto paint. The Hot Rod community has turned out wonderful jobs.
You really have to check out thier site

WOW! $214/gallon. Expensive stuff. I think I would have to go with something cheaper when the time comes.

Unless you are painting a combine, you'll find that a quart is good for something up to the size of, say, a utility trailer. The paint has a lot of solids so you don't need more than two coats.

I was thinking about trying to spray some paint with hardeners (iso). I see there are a couple of ebay sellers selling disposal supplied air hoods. I was thinking about getting some of these and wearing my mask (with new cartridges) and one of these hoods connected to my compressor as well. Good idea or bad?
