Traction Control is the reason we traded our first Toolcat, a 5610 F Series in on the 5610 G series that comes standard with Traction Control.

The traction improvement is noticeable?

The traction improvement is noticeable?

Last winter I tested the toolcat on a large sheet of ice and was pleasantly surprised. It just drove around with no drama. In high range (no traction control), I could get it to slide, drift, and spin, but it still wasn't real bad. My TC33D tractor would have been all over the place as a comparison.

It became an option on the 5600 in 2014 (AGH8) G-series and became/is standard on the 5610 at the same time. When its active the switch light blinks on the dash and it certainly blinks on me in the snow and mud (R4 tires). If you are mowing fields that are flat and not soft/muddy it probably doesn't make a difference. If you are on slick surfaces or go over uneven terrain where a tire might get light or off the ground than the TC certainly would help you out. Its an extra axle speed signal (left front i think) and a diagonal split hydraulic braking valve so not too complicated but yes its another thing that could go bad. I think the worst case though is you could turn it off (or it fails off) and its like you dont have it. Of note it only works in low range (turtle) not the 2nd speed (rabbit).

We have a Chevy Tahoe with traction control. It’s very good on slippery roads & ice.
I was thinking it wouldn’t be a big difference in the toolcat (thought toolcat was equipped with limited slip front & rear)
Note: Found a 2016 5600 low hours and optional traction control for 36,900. Won’t budge on price.

Good to hear. I'm a vehicle dynamics engineer at General Motors.

Well let me tell you, it’s been nothing short of a fantastic vehicle. It’s a 2008 with 203,000 miles on it. My wife considers it “part of our family”. No rust, original 5.3L and transmission!
Sorry to get off topic.

Yep, looks like quite a setup but it won't work on a Toolcat.

for what it is worth, my 2006, 5600, has done a great job for me field mowing. I do about 12 acres of horse pasture with no issues. defiantly need to keep up on the rad and the condenser for grass clippings but, once a day has worked for me. simply blow it out with the compressor and you are good to go. have mowed on very hot days and have not had issues. again its all in what you want to put into it. sounds like you are the type that keeps an eye on things so you should not have issues.
just my 2 cents.
Mike
