If you're not a World War II veteran I'd like to know where the Japanese touched you; please point to the location on the doll.

I have no experience with the Toyota but the f150 is certainly capable.

Make sure you option it with max towing and Max payload because the payload is always the catch on a 1/2 ton truck. My 18 f150 3.5 ecoboost is fast, gets good had mileage, had the Max tow package, but is sprung fairly soft for comfort. Firestone airbags with a wireless controller make a huge different in towing ride. The towing capacity on mine is supposedly 12000 +- but the hitch is rated for 500 pound tongue weight carrying (1200 weight distributing) It's a bit of a numbers game

Whatever modern truck you get, I'm a firm believer that extended warranties pay off. There is nothing in the road as reliable as the trucks I grew up on. They are certainly more efficient, comfortable and capable, but every one can have its problems and when they happen out of warranty it gets exorbitant fast... my 18f150 is on its second day of cam phasers (a $3000 job) at 90k miles. Shopping around though a buddy had a 22 Silverado with the 6.2 that required an engine replacement at 6k miles for a catastrophic internal failure, another had a dodge 2500 hemi that the dealership had to buy back as a lemon after 30days not being able to fix a loss of power computer issue that put it into limp mode on the way home from the dealership. (Less than 100 miles). They cost like crazy but they aren't made like they used to be.

While they are mostly made in America, both locations listed are non-union states. Don't know enough to say where net profits go.
The workers at the Huntsville plant have rejected unions believing they are treated better than union workers. As a result the Huntsville engine plant is the only Toyota plant in the world to build 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines. It didn't start that way. And recently there is a joint venture with Mazda to build complete automobiles a few miles west of the Toyota engine plant.

Not too long ago UAW workers at International in Huntsville built Ford 6.0L and 6.4L Powerstroke engines. Ford was none too happy with the quality so they designed and built their own 6.7L.

Another post in this thread put it well. Said the union auto plants would screw contractors any which way they could, whatever the contract permitted. But Toyota was treating contractors like humans, like family. That is my observation outside of the auto industry: Union employees will take any advantage, and so will the company. When both try to steal as much as they can from each other, neither prospers.

I would suggest only the 5.7 motor if you are going to tow. If you choose another truck do not get the 10 speed transmission.

You've been retired too long...only engine available in a new Tundra for over a year now is a twin-turbo V6 - a copy of the Ford F150. AND the new Tundra comes with a 10 speed transmission.

Some people are putting WAY too much emphasis on where something is made or assembled.

Google says there are an average 30,000 parts on each car/truck. Are we gonna quabble about where each one is made? This isnt a wrench, or ratchet, or a mower blade, or some other item made from a single part or (very few parts).

We live in a GLOBAL ECONOMY. So even if you want to be die-hard "support-american"......sadly something such as a vehicle with 30k parts.....NONE of the manufactures align with you. They source parts all over the world.

For me.....Its not about cost....any/everything I purchase all comes down to VALUE. Sometimes its worth paying more for better quality/longevity/features/etc. Sometimes its not worth paying 3x the cost for something simple to used infrequently. All depends. I shop VALUE period with little care or concern what country something is made or assembled in.

It's interesting that you think I'm mad; that's just one of many assumptions you make in your long-winded, incoherent rant. It's a shame too, because you make some good points, but they get lost in the sauce.

How are you going to try to **** on Kubota when you have no understanding of Japanese agriculture?

10k is too much weight behind a half ton for any sort of frequency.

A 6,000lb boat behind a 2020 F150 Crew Cab V8 4x4 was a white knuckle ride when traffic slows suddenly on the highway, just not enough weight and stability. Plenty of power, trans would shift about every 7 seconds (10 spd) you get used to manually mode to prevent that.

16’ enclosed (7k gross) in a heavy cross wind is unnerving with an empty bed on the truck. Trailer is in control.
I agree with your half ton thought.

We got lucky in 2018 in finding a 205K mile 2010 F-150 with the factory 10K tow package that was never used as a work truck. 5 years later we are at 222K miles. For 30 years our truck was a 1986.5 Nissan hardbody .

If I was younger I would want at least a F-250 when hooked to the 22 foot tilt trailer. I find someone.with a one ton and heavy trailer when moving the 12,500 pound backhoe.

When things go wrong it is too late to get a 2X tow vehicle.

I don't care why Toyota chose the boosted V6 route. I will say that I'll take a boosted V6 Toyota as a V8 replacement over a Ford/Chevy that uses a turbo V6 as a V8 replacement. I have no emotional connection to V8's in Japanese vehicles like I do with American OEM's in their trucks and muscle cars.
So it is emotional rather than rational.

I am pleased as punch with the 2.7EB in my F-150. Terribly glad I didn't get the 3.5EB as Ford doesn't seem to be willing to do what it takes to fix the cam phaser reliability issue. Yet got it right on the 2.7EB.
