Towing

Hopefully I'll be bringing a JD425 home on a flatbed in a few days. I was told by someone at work to release the hydro (neutral), while towing so as not to damage it. Is this correct? My plan was to of course tie it down and block the wheels, but I am wondering if I should put it in neutral.

if it's gonna have all tires on a truck or trailer deck I can't imagine WHY to not leave it with brakes on and whatever it takes to keep it imobile.

if it's such a delicate machine that you have to leave it in neutral while setting.. hope it never rolls down a hill when parked...

I think what your friend meant by "towing" is if your engine quits and you have to "tow" it to the shop or house or wherever. In this case, yes it needs to be in neutral.
