There is book out there called "The world is flat" by Thomas Friedman - it details the rise of the global economy.
I don't think we have just a few advantages...rather I think our economy, when operating as designed, is limitless!
I think the key to our continued success is the education of our young folks. Not only is that our biggest competitive advantage, it is our future as a country. I also believe that wealth distribution is directly linked to innovation. Our country leads the world here too (no coincidence considering our domination of collegiate education), and I believe we will continue to do so. I happen to work with a few very well educated folks (mostly engineers) who are brilliant innovators, and am glad I do. Thankfully, my company recognizes their value too. These are the folks who will keep us competitive in the future. I do want to complete my 40th year. That is something I will be very proud to do.
