Budget tractors don't include things like triple rear hydraulics, skidsteer quick attach fels, in short they have less capabilities and are built to meet the lower price points. Trading up later will cost more money than buying it right the first time, you did mention you like to buy it right in your OP.

I have offered the suggestions based on my experience with tractors over 45 years of use, hope some of it helps you make the right decision. Good luck with it and be safe.

Did the Kubota prices include all the same features/options? Things like rear remotes, telescoping lift arms/stabilizer bars, etc can easily add up to thousands of dollars, and many sales folks don't factor them in until you ask for a detailed quote. Heck, I think adding two remotes is around $2k right off the bat. That's some of the stuff you have to factor in even when you compare within one brand, since standard features vary. I'd ask the same question at the Deere dealer....exactly what comes with the price they give you.

If you are not going to be using it frequently a Kubota MX5100 would be a good option. If you are going to be using the tractor frequently a Kubota L45 or M59 would be better. The TLB's are a more heavy duty machine than a tractor and their hydraulic systems have more GPM than a tractor so you will get more work done in less time.

Agreed, but he just said he needs to get through an 89" carport

Use the loader to dig down a few inches under the carport the larger tractor will go under it:laughing:

Yeah, i agree. Need to go over specs more but i like the MX5100, most capable for about same price. All were quoted with tractor and fel. The 4600 was actually 1k less than mx and the grand L was 2k more.

L4600 hst & La764 ~ 27k
mx5100 hst & La844 ~ 28k
L4060 hst & La805 = ~ 30k

I can get the L3800 HST, Loader, and BH for around $30k. Just worried i'd be going small.

Still am going to check out JD and LS tomorrow...

.

I Just recently got a Kioti DK40 HST with a loader and backhoe. It is a nice machine and so far it seems to be a work horse. I would recommend taking a look at them.

You didn't mention the $60k price tag just for M59 tlb  I want new. I can bend but that will break me.

From other rental property owners, a 3k series tractor/bh will get me by. Will spend more if it makes a considerable difference. Maybe 10k more but not 30. This machine will not make me money. It will save some but not enough to cover payments. I have been successful enough to buy some convenience but i'm far from loaded.

I have recently been using a Mahindra 4110 borrowed from a friend. We bought tractors about the same time. I can say that my Kubota B3200 is easier to transport and is very nimble in tight spaces as compared to the Mahindara. The K is hydro while the M is gear. The Mahindra definitely has it on the power. All in all I prefer my B3200. I am thinking about an LS 40 hp for added horsepower. Would like to drive one to see how nimble it is. The thing about the smaller tractors is they don't tear up yards like the big ones. Bigger is not always better, at least in my case.

For moving whole logs or cleaning up downed limbs I bought Westendorf's Brush Crusher. I went with it because I didn't have to add 3rd function hydraulics. Recommend rear remotes and a hydraulic top link. Makes hooking up heavy three point implements easier. Another item along those lines are the quick attach devices that go on the end of the lift arms. Makes hooking up a 6 foot brush hog a one man job.

I think he recommended the M59 because he thought you were going to be using it a lot. By your first post it sounded like you were going to be using the tractor commercially. Are you going to be using this machine daily, weekly, or monthly?

I need to get detailed quotes. I'm going to buy as soon as I figure out exactly what I need but I haven't started negotiating price yet. I have assumed I have been quoted prices on the exact model and options I test drove, not the bear bones model of what I test drove. As you say, could be considerable difference.
