Looking for input on tractor mirrors. Baling hay lastnight and quickly before the rain came in (it still beats us). If I have a problem or baler string breaks I need some way to communite with the wife. She has neck problems so she can't turn around to look at me all the time plus drive the tractor. Unless I am yelling or running up to catch her to stop so I am think some kind of mirrors. Thanks

My first thoughts are:
1. 2 way radio for each of you and a headset for her (or a headset for her and an earbud for you)
2. 12 volt light of some kind with a switch that you run from the haywagon

Either will get her attention much faster than you waving in a mirror and will allow her to pay more attention to driving

Does the tractor have a cab? I like mirrors that are towards the center of the tractor so hedge rows don't clean them off!

I mounted a 3 point Truck (fender mount) mirror over the plunger case on my 575 NH just for that reason. My power units have mirors but I can't see a mistie (don't happen often) until it's 3 cycles past the quarter turn and then I have to stop, move bales, turn the machine around and rebale the miss. PITA. With the 575, there is a whole lot of machine back there and there is no way you can see what's happening.

I angled the mirror so I can see the knotter and the bale as it's packed and twined. I just watch in the tractor mirror (left hand) and look at the bailer mounted mirror ocassionally or between sips of a cool beverage......:licking:

The spot mirror allows me to watch the bales as they get tied and stop if I have a problem, right away.

Saves time, especially in wheat straw in long windrows. I bale contract so time costs me money as well as mistie'd twine.

using the kiss principle, maybe just a simple coaches whistle on a lanyard around your neck? a good loud blast should easily be heard.

+1 I was going to suggest the same thing. A Fox 40 whistle is very loud, light weight, and Indestructible. You could have a code for different things with different numbers of blows. She could know to stop on one long blast without even needing to turn around at all.
