Tractor pull fails

I saw that once in Louieville. Probably the loudest thing I have ever been subjected to.

Interesting to see, and to each his own, but the phrase "more money than brains" kind of comes to mind. Is there even a point to this? I mean, it's not like it's furthering agricultural technology.

Actually, once you seen one, you have seen them all, and then really for me, only the fails are interesting.

Things can go south real quick!

There is some advantage, they tend to push the limits and find ways to do things that normal corporate research teams wouldn't do/try, so maybe products can be made better through their learning and at the expense of the crowd watching.

But, yes, after a few they're all the same, noise, then a big bang, crowd goes WOW!

I got a "Little guy" he loved it.

How is a tractor pull any different from NASCAR, top fuel dragsters, sprint cars, et al? None of these "further XXXX technology" per se.

YES, how is it different?

I thought some NASCAR technology worked it's way back to the automakers, no?

Me. I'm still trying to figure out a way to safely remove the (OEM) NASCAR sticker off of my Lincoln welder, lest someone think, I may be of that bent.

And to think I stress over how much an attachment costs and if I really really need it or not. These guys have my entire roads net worth sunk into one of those things.

The financial matters are rather more convoluted than that. Sponsorships, advertising and prize monies.

I've been to a few starting back when tractor pulling was in it's heyday and the Stock and Super Stock classes were always my favourites to watch. I always had more appreciation of the people who could get the most out of their tractors with the least modifications rather than those who could throw cubic money at it.

I've never been able to figure out the economics of this or monster trucks. It seems to me like there'd be no way to capitalize the equipment and travel... breaking and blowing up stuff... even with sponsorship money and ticket revenues. :confused2:
