THis is what I am talking about about the holes being misaligned. You would think that whoever was welding this could do a little better. Maybe Tractor Supply has these contracted out to the local High School Welding Class. No, I take that back. I think a High School Welding Class would do better than this.

I personally this this is poor workmanship and I am sure most on this forum would agree with me.

That's pure cr@p! I'd take that back and exchange it for another.
And check the alignment on the replacement boom pole before you leave the store.

What are those bare spots with no paint? Those are not holidays. That looks like it was painted after it was bundled up with some strapping and a little paint happen to sneak its way under the strap. Not a show stopper but indicative of the quality of their workmanship and quality control must existentsistant.

I still dont understand. Tractor supply sells products that are much cheaper than other companys. This gives you the opportunity to get things done within reason based on price. You also have the opportunity to look things over before you buy in person. You look the product over before you buy it and then you get home and go on a rampage. You spend a hundred dollars and some change on (in my opinion) product that will pay for itself and you are majorly dissatisfied. What the heck man just learn from your mistakes and buy a product that is a couple more hundred dollars more and to your liking. That crooked top link pin isnt gonna hamper performance. I have bought several products from tractor supply that have junk welds and alignment but hey, they were at a price that worked for me and the implements work. I dont plan on entering them in a beuty contest.

To clarify why and how I bought it, I needed it, I saw the boom poles outside of Tractor Supply Company stacked together, one on top of the other,(spooned together). I went inside and bought one, two guys came out, unlocked the stacked boom poles, got the top one and loaded it into the back of my truck. I got home, took it out and as I was hooking it up I noticed how really cheap and shoddy the welding work was. Also how crummy the paint job was. I then decided to post on here. I wasn't expecting a King Kutter, but I also was not expecting something this County Line to be this bad. I had read all the reviews, as I usually do before purchasing something, as I am sure a lot of you do. So.............Thar she is. What say you now?

shorty, I could not tell how out of alignment the holes were til I got it home.
Do you work for tractor suppy or something?

SHORTY, are you reading this. Did you read how the guys loaded it up for me? I didn't inspect it, except to check that it had pins. Can you see the picture? Do you see why I am bitching? I was going to ***** once, but this has gone on and on and on. I bought it with my own money so I can ***** about it if I want to. And I want to. I learned a lesson about buying junk from Tractor Suppy. The next time I go to Tractor Supply I will take it with me, as sparc suggested. I wont make a special trip, but I will take it back.

Maybe your tractor supply is different than mine but i have to drive my truck to where the implements are as well so they can load them up for me but i have at least 10 minutes before they come to load it up so i look the stuff over before hand. But like i said, maybe your tractor supply is different. Lesson learned though. I know first hand that their stuff is nothing like top dollar stuff but it works for light duty. There are tons of threads with this warning though so this thread will be archived with the rest of them i guess. Just strike it off as a lesson learned and have a good welder reinforce it for 40 bucks and it will be as good as one that cost 200 more dollars.

I think they dip paint these things. Mine has a pretty drippy finish with some holidays. It has sat outside for 4 years and there's very little rust, except where I straightened one of the struts with the FEL after bending it when I backed into something. My top link holes are misaligned, too. If it really bothered me I'd cut one side off and weld it back on straight. It doesn't really affect how the tool works, as the top link has self aligning bearing at both ends. It does affect your perception, since you call it "junk". For junk, it has done whatever I have asked of it without failure. I believe it's billed as a 500# boom pole. It's had well over double that hanging off it on many occasions.

It is what it is - low cost and strong.

These things are built as cheap and as quick as possible. If you look close at these types of equipment, (agri international etc.) they use whatever steel is available at the time. I have seen rows of back blades at sales and the thickness is different on every one. Angle braces are diferent thicknesses. This is one of those you get what you pay for deals. I used to buy 7' back blades for under $200 and sell them for $600. C.H.E. Inc.: Farm and Landscaping Blades Look at the prices for 7' plain blades here and tell me you can build it cheaper?

The paint is unfortunate, but the misaligned holes are definitely going to impact performance. Looks like poor quality control. I would take it back and ask them to exchange it for another, then take the time to have a boo at the next one to see that the holes line up properly before you load it on the truck.

I don't blame you for being upset. I would be ticked off about that too.
