Tractor Supply Co

TSC has changed over the years. There's been one in this immediate area for 35 years (or longer) It USED to be a REAL farm supply store. Now they're more of a novelty shop with some farm related items.

We have two Tractor Supply (I wonder why they called it tractor supplies?)within 25 minutes, both are not worth the drive unless you are looking for toys, trinkets and clothes. My local feed store has 10 times the AG stuff at less cost AND they know AG.

Ours here (Waco, TX) has lotsa ag items; I'm in there probably at least once a week. They recentlt started handling Purina feed also. :) :)

Yes same here they thought any tire tube bigger than 8 inch was for a huge tractor lol That doesnt make much sence to me.

I've been dealing with TSC for at least 4 years...
Far and away the biggest problem they have is with their help and their being able to stock the most requested items...

They hire local help and obviously do not train them well...I find that most of the employees are middle aged women with backgrounds in keeping horses etc...

Now for the good points (that I think out-weigh the cons)

Buy something in one store and there is no issue returning it to any other TSC...

The quality of their tools etc is very good...I have been using one of their home brand (name escapes me at the moment) 4.5" angle grinders for 3 years and am more than satisfied (I usually go through a quality grinder in 18 months)...and it came with an 8' cord....

In many rural areas there is virtually no source for hydraulic fittings, hoses etc...many users have no idea what they need to order via the Internet....they need a place where they can take a leaking hose/fitting and matche it up with something that will work...TSC is there...

Run out of welding rods/wire etc... in many areas there is a TSC a lot closer than a welding supply or a Home Depot...

They may not be the best store in the world but they definately fill a niche...

This year I have a new TSC store that's opened 25 miles closer than the one I previously patronized....so now it's ony a 50 mile round trip...but I'm glad i'ts there...

hey I feel your pain...that is typical of what I mentioned...they should stock a varity of metric to SAE or NTP adapters...

Gives me an idea...It will be a month before I am adding 1 front and 3 rear remotes....I think I will send off a rash of e-mails to everyone in the upper circles of TSC management and supply chain managers and make some suggestions on exactly what you mentioned...there is no telling what I'll need and I'm hoping they will have whatever I don't take with me as far as fittings/adapters goes...

That would be great.

Its funny, one of the best things about TSC is their bolts/nuts/washers etc by the pound. The one in Aiken SC also had, in additon to the grade 2/5/8 stuff a full assortment of METRIC hardware. I loved it! Then a couple of years ago they took all the metric out...really stupid I thought with so many tractors being metric..
Maybe someday TSC will "get it" and bring it back.

Question from Tractor Wantabe: Are Kubota BX25 metric?
Just making my 3 lists ... 1.Buy from Dealer-0%Finance, 2.Buy from Dealer-Cash, 3.Buy from Others-Cash.

Lists include tools and consumables(belts, shear pins, etc.)

Any suggestions? Buy Metric Tools? Which? From Tractor Supply?

Thanks :)
