i hope they last longer than the company the bought the quakertown pa site from (home and garden) or whatever their name was that went bankrupt.

from what i hear from some of my farmer buddies the prices are right and the products sturdy.

After reading all of the above, I have to agree with everybody . . TSC is like all the rest .. some good . . some GREAT . . .and the rest.

But I just have to say . I just can't stay away! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif All the stuff in there gives me great ideas of what I could build, find, borrow . . .You name it.

Buy me an ice cream cone . . and take me to the TSC . .What a Friday night! (man, does this sound like a hopeless case, or what!)

Ours here is now managed by a twenty-something gal who sure seems to do a great job. I've needed some odd things she's tracked down and ordered in for me at very good prices. I'm probably going to buy a King Kutter box blade and brush hog from them soon. I wouldn't even be surprised if I expressed my concerns about the assembly that she'd make sure it was done right (and I'm pretty sure she'll know, too). Nice people and very willing to help. A too rare find these days.

I had commented on another string that the new store in Peterborough Ontario Canada left me wanting. I spent 20 minutes in the store the week it opened. There were more staff than customers. I walked up and down all the aisles and not one staff person said hello or asked to help. Seems like an obvious basic of customer service - or maybe I am just getting older and expecting too much /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif.
As has been said before, the stores will vary depending on the staff - hopefully our local one will improve as the "young" staff gain some experience. Some of the products look OK and, they are located on my end of town so that is a plus.

After I went in the TSC near me, I came away thinking that only the one or two aisles that contain tractor-related things are worth going there for. The other aisles: tools, hardware, lawn & garden, pet food, auto parts, clothes, etc. have things I can get at Wal-Mart or Home Depot for less money and have a bigger selection.

In their brand-specific tractor items, TSC has things for the older classisc it seems but nothing for Kubota for example. The TSC store seems to have an aisle or two less tractor-related stuff than the previous Quality Farm&Fleet store had.

I visit the Carlisle, TSC store frequently to purchase the nuts and bolts hardware they sell by the pound. Their sales fliers usually run specials on selected items and the annual blue book is nice to thumb through on a winter evening. Advise from sales staff is mixed, but always well intended. I enjoy a visit the TSC more than the local shopping mall.

I wish they had a TSC store in New England the closest one is in Carlisle, PA which I stop at every time I get down that way. We make Carlisle a stopping point just because of TSC.

I have purchased several items from them and have been happy with the quality.

We had both TSC and quality farm until QF went under. A number of the QF sites are converting to TSC. The TSC near me was a smaller store. I often had to order or wait for a shipment from another store for some larget items. The QF that TSC is moving to is MUCH larger and I am hoping will have better stock.

TSC stock also varies by local needs. I know the stores in near Columbus have much more horse related items, but the ones out a ways has more AG/garden related items.

SmokyMtnMan – I asked them about King Kutter 1 and 2 bottom plows and they do have them listed in their computer, but didn’t have any in stock so I couldn’t see how they were put together (I don’t need one, I was just curious). The 1 bottom is $240 and the 2 bottom is $388.

Jerry – I was afraid that the lack of competition was going to allow them to raise their prices. Fortunately, we have a Big Blue (local to SW IN, NW KY and SE IL) and they are lower on implements. But, Big Blue doesn’t have much inventory and aren’t doing well. I won’t be surprised if they go out of business soon.

Bill – “tools, hardware, lawn & garden, pet food, auto parts, clothes, etc” cheaper at Walmart and other places. I agree, except for one thing. I priced a 7/8” drill bit at Lowes and it is $25, and at Sears it is $22, but at TSC it is $17 (Mibro).

I was disappointed on the implement prices at TSC. They’re higher than Big Blue or the local independent tractor place I’ve already bought things from (D&J Equipment in Nashville, IN). For example, a King Kutter 6’ yard rake is $320 at Big Blue and at D&J, but $370 at TSC. The King Kutter 5’ bush hogs (rotary cutter) are $550 at TSC, but I bought one at D&J for $500 (and it’s a blue one, which matches my Boomer better than a yellow one). They have decent prices on pressure washers, but Lowes beats them. They have good prices on hydraulic cylinders, but no top link cylinders. They have good prices on implement paint and lots of colors, although they don’t have New Holland blue, just Ford blue. Overall, most of their smaller items are priced pretty good. I was disappointed that they don’t sell trees, garden plants, etc, like Quality did. The people were friendly, but not very knowledgeable and there were only 2 in the store. But, I run into that problem at Walmart, Kmart, and pretty much everywhere.

I asked them when they were having their grand opening and they said probably May 10-12, so I'll wait until then to buy anything.

I have bought hydraulic hoses and Hypro sprayer pumps and couplings and 3pt hitch pins and implement paint and bush hog blades.

Most recently, I got a set of titanium nitride coated drill bits 1/16 to 1/2 gor about $20-$30. The coating helps. The drill bits would be a good buy for TBN readers because bits larger than 3/8" have turned down shanks that fit a 3/8" chuck. Check um out.

I think TSC is a good men's store. I wish the shopping malls had them.
