Tractor Supply Does It Again

Your post is completely uncalled for.:)

I checked -- a Rural King just opened in Morganton, NC, less than 40 minutes from my farm. There goes the budget.;)

Steve

Think of all the gas you will save going to the "un-stocked" store,, and coming home empty-handed,,

Savings,, not budget-blowing,,,,

Rural King actually has agricultural and rural living things and a high percentage of staff that understand the concept of the rural thing. You want glyphosate at a great price? Got it. Hitch pins, link ends, sprayer parts, cultivator sweeps and bolts, baler tines? Got it. How about American made sump pumps, dog clipper blades, burn barrels, PVC stuff? Got it and I think maybe I'll head back tomorrow after going there today. Short TSC.

When I see empty boxes for PVC pipe fittings................I do what we do in aviation stores and turn the box over and leave it half way sticking out. Frustrates some clerks when they see me doing it in the big box stores.

I've noticed lately Lowes is just removing boxes. Been in there three times for 2 inch flex couplings and no box for 2 or 3 inch couplings. Just 4 inch.

Please tell Rural King to build a store an hour north of Houston. Thanks!

I think if enough of us demanded gas money for making a useless trip they would smarten up. I got bas service on my rv I complained they said bring in your rv and let us look at it. They were wrong, I asked for gas money for the drive back and forth, they gave me $50.00

It's not buying the things that I need that I am concerned about, it's buying the things I don't need.:)

When I was in RK yesterday, I noticed simple PVC fittings, that were approx. $1.50 at Lowe's and $2.50 at the local hardware store, for 65 cents. Impressive.

What, put one in a swamp! Why would they wanna do that?:confused3:

You need to get out more. There's a whole wonderful world of dirt down 59 where the concrete jungle ends.

They have lower prices on some things, and higher on others. I was buying an assortment of pulleys, straps, and other hardware. RK is my first stop for most things anymore, but they were out of some sizes. I found what I needed at Menards, and they had everything on my list in stock for almost HALF the price of RK. Same exact items, same model numbers, same manufacturer stickers. Those 2 stores are my favorite, so it's still handy for me to compare. They both have high and low priced items.

I moved from a town in Wisconsin with a big new Menards and a big Fleet Farm across the street from a good sized Super Walmart. I had to drive past those stores a few times a week and anything I could want almost was sold in one of those stores as cheap of cheaper than I could get it anywhere.

I ended up in a rinky dink town with a small TSC and a small Walmart and 35 miles away is a good sized Lowes.

I am in agony here and stuck.

My wife loves it here but I am ready to move back. Now I pay a premium for everything I get. The nearest Menards is 4 hours away and the nearest Rural King is 2 hours.

We used to live like that and just learned to love mail order. Most of the problems were solved.

When the Tractor Supply opened near me in the Mojave, they had watercraft, riding lawn mowers, splitters and ag implements. This is the desert. There are no lakes/rivers, turf (only the high school has a grass field, all others play on dirt), the closest real tree is probably 50 miles away, and no type of farming. Most of that original stock is still there a year later.

Brilliant move corporate!

Don't you get free rides on all the aircraft you work on? It used to be a perk, didn't it?

I get free rides on all our flights and the majority of other airlines. The kids and I have flown to Corpus Christi for the weekend, one spring break. But that isn't the same as driving all that flat, coastal plain.

This thread is interesting, because frequently TSC is the one who has things cheaper for me. For example this summer we had a HUGE mosquito infestation. We had a dry hot most of the summer. But then the rains came and came and came.

TSC was the one who had the largest jug of bug spray in the greatest concentration. It ended up being MUCH cheaper per gallon of spray (once mixed with water) than any of the other stores. Had to do some math to get an apples to apples comparison, but it worked out.

Same with needing 2,4,D for weed control. They have a concentrate that has a higher concentration and it works out to a cheaper price than what I can find anywhere else.
