5030 and I must simply be using a more powerful tractor, or you do not really use your King Klutter stuff. I have two pieces of King Klutter laying in a scrap heap that I had to buy after I borrowed them and broke them. I have other brands of implements, and by shear measurement of the size and quality of materials used, KK positively will not stand up to what quality brands will. Period. This is not like a debate of hydro vs gear, or one brand tractor over another. The differences are plain and simple for all to measure and see. I'm told by the TSC store manager that KK has a "professional" line of equipment that is likely as good as the name brand stuff, but he did not have prices for it and they do not stock it.
With my Maschio rotary cutter (an off brand name, but supplier for many "name" brands), I've cut 4" and larger trees without any damage. My finish mower will cut 2" saplings without any problems. Our idea of tough and durable are not the same. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've got some KK equipment and I've been very happy with it overall. I think their rotary cutters and tillers are truly bargains in the industry. I know there are better in the marketplace. I just don't think there are better for the money.

I don't know a thing about their finish mowers except that they appear to come with the anti-scalp front roller standard and the optional one for my finish mower is over $100. All I'm saying is don't eliminate them from your consideration.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

TSC does stock "profesional" series rear blades in my area.
I have the 7' "profesional" rear blade and like it (much heavier made than the standard light duty blades)
The light duty, professional and heavy duty rear blades are availible here at TSC. Also the standard duty or heavy duty brush cutters.

I have a KK 60" RFM that I bought from Homier, under their Farm Pro name, It has preformed very well considering the price of $299. Be aware though, the wheels are very cheap, and the so is the hitch. You can beef up the hitch, (which I did) by welding some stiffners on, and can improve the wheels by welding a 1/4" plate inside the hub on both sides, or you can buy some better wheels. The belt that came with it, is also very cheap, and may make it through the summer. The replacement belt is a Gates B133.

I have used it about once a week to mow 3 acres all summer, and it gives a good cut, have not even had to sharpen the blades. Please bear in mind, that it is a Finish Mower, not a bush hog. Also, your lawn, should be in good shape, no holes or stumps sticking up. You can view the mower at web page they have a 60 day warranty, and will replace anything broken during that period. No its not the best mower on the market, but the price is very good and does what I want. If you have any other questions, I will be glad to try to answer them.

DK35Vince, Cool! Do you happen to know how much their price was for their heavy "professional" 7 footer? The guy told me that it weighs nearly 500 lbs. That would weigh in with the heaviest duty series of any brand. Unlike on race cars and airplanes, weight is not a bad thing on tractors and equipment. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

DK35vince, Heck! I'm a convert!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I just went to KK's website and saw that their "HD" or "professional" series 7' blade weighs 700 pounds! I just can't find a price. I suppose all I've seen and used has been their "economy" series stuff. I'm kinda of excited now. If their price for their HD stuff is reasonable, I'll buy one of those 7' HD-RB-84 blades! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

My 5' KK was pulled behind my NH 1920 for 3 seasons.. that machine will pull a 6' cutter.. so there was no want for extra power on that 5' mower.

That said.. it is lighter metal tan some of the other brands.. and no.. you can't expect a 500$ cutter to last as long as a 1500$ cutter. That said.. for the average user, the lighter duty cutter is a good bargain.

Now.. if your yard is full of stumps and old tire rims.. and broken up concrete curb.. or your tractor has nascar racing stripes on it... I guess you'll need a hd cutter.

Reminds me of the thread where the guy's father in law kept breaking front end loaders on his tractor.. and kept getting bigger ones.. then finally broke a bull dozer...

Howse is the same way.. it has an economy line.. and a HD line. So far.. my HD howse 10' mower is doing fine. I scalped a huge ant mound last week.. must have been 3 and a half feet across of nice orange clay.... well.. it's flat now...

Soundguy, you don't adhere to the "Tim Tool Time" more power, stronger is better theme. For sound, I have a Yamaha Z9 receiver with a M&K 850 surround speaker system with a Velodyne DD15 subwoofer added for punch in my theater room, and an McIntosh MC352 power amp pushing a set of McIntosh LS340's in my pool house. Love music and love power. I've a modest collection of muscle cars with appropriate additional performance modifications. Heck, my Dodge diesel pickup puts out just over 400 hp and 1100 ft. lbs of torque. Power man, power! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Rock on!

Oh yeah, already had the dozer (Cat 955) and excavator (JD 650) and dump truck thing. I bought all the equipment and dug my own lake; then sold all the equipment two years later for a profit! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Sure I do.. just differently. I think my 7 tractors on 13 ac should qualify.. especially since one of them is a NH 7610S.. a fairly beefy machine for a hobby farm. I'd rather spend my money on my tractor collection, and have an economy implement that works.. yet doesn't absorb more money than needed. That leaves more money for tractors...

I get enough 'sound' at my night gig doing sound engineering for a media company. Though i don't own the stuff.. we have a few million dollars of high quality concert series and permanent install pa. Not to mention the goodies at the radio station and the tv station. The price of those hand held cameras they use are more than my years salary.

My day job is with the big boy toys. I work for a general contractor. We've got the usual stuff... scaper pans.. reclaimer machines.. dozers from wee d-3 to larger D6-9U and D8's lots of loaders.. excavators.. dragline.. etc. More than I care to know how to operate. While the smell of diesel fumes still turns me on.. I'm quite happy to be working in the office...

Actually, Soundguy, I've not only used my regular duty King Kutter 60" rotary cutter on all of those things (and by that I mean I've hit them and hit them hard) but also on fallen trees, living roots and car batteries on the property I bought. I even found an old guy (sp?) wire support left by the utility company when the road was straightened back in the twenties and mine still works fine. I found the end of a concrete walk with it as recently as Saturday. With the abuse this thing has taken, I can't imagine how sturdy the HD model must be.
