There were times, when going through soil that had more/heavier plant growth to pull through, that the tractor started to lose traction and I had to lock the rear differential; then it pulled through.
AL, more power is not going to help you in this kind of situation. Don't
confuse Power with Force. With more power in the same situation, your
wheels are going to spin anyway. More power WOULD help if you reported
that your engine was refusing to go faster while under load, without
spinning the wheels. Getting your engine's output Force converted to
forward action requires torque-reduction gearing, non-slip tire treads, and
Weight. Tractors are usually heavy vehicles with low power engines
because high power is for doing things Fast, and tractors use TRACTion to
do things Slowly.
I have used my CK30 as my main tractor for several years, and the only
time I wished for more power was in driving up my 13% road in high range.
It won't do it. Would I have bought the CK35 over the CK30 if it was
available in 05? Yes. Would I now? I would prob choose the DK35SE over
the CK35 if the price were similar as the DK is over 600# heavier. Weight
is Good.
Oh, yeah, if you are at all concerned about traction, don't get R4s....I
have been stuck several times in mud on side slopes. Good thing I had
a 2nd machine with AGs to pull me out.
