Does anyone know of a wrecking yard or dealer who specializes in used tractor parts? My inexperience with tractors and loaders means I've pretty much trashed the hood of my new-to-me but well-used NH TC40DA and really don't want to pay dealer price for a new hood assembly. Once I get finished with the rough work around my place, I'm going to fix it, but not until I get done with these blasted branch piles.

Google abiline machine and worthington ag. They both have aftermarket and salvage parts.

Worthington Ag. They are good to deal with.

Farmland Tractor Supply, Tangent Oregon. They do have a web page. It is THE tractor boneyard, they come in dead or alive

You all may think I'm a bit off but I think it would be a blast to poke around a tractor bone yard, even on vacation.

I know this is a long way from you, but this place is the largest used tractor part place in the Midwest.

I believe they even have an online inventory feature...but I haven't used their new website, so your mileage may vary :)

And yes, walking the boneyard is way cool.

I think this thread has turned into a good resource for anyone looking for used parts.

Am I still welcome if I am WAY MORE than just a bit off? Seriously! I have a border collie as a house dog! 'Nuff said ;)

Those aren't "bone" yards, they are way stations for tractors waiting for reincarnation. Believe in the afterlife.

You bet. Tractors have a much longer life than cars and not nearly the percentage go to the scrap yard. At least I hope.

Umm, I think there are plenty of "common" ag tractors whose "bones" will never ride again. The vultures swoop in, pick the carcass clean of usable parts and the bones are left to rust.

Or perhaps you meant waiting for reincarnation through recycling the old iron into new tractors. :)

I look at this picture, and I don't think "next project tractor"! HaHa

Just having fun. Raining frogs and turtles here. So dark outside, nothing much to do other than cause trouble on TBN :)

Instead of doing a lot of calling around to numerous salvage yards, this link provides a quicker method.
http://www.tractorhouse.com/Default.aspx When you open the link, note the menu in red at top left. And the 5th item down, "parts search". Click on that, and on the next page that appears, click on "dismantled machines". A list will appear with numerous mfg's, and models of tractors in their yards. A LOT of salvage yards are linked up to this site, large and small. I used your model number ans came up with 2 results. One looks to have a useable hood, but didin't look too close, and the other looks as though it has burned. Click on this link to see the results: http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/di...D=3&Manu=NEW+HOLLAND&Mdltxt=TC40DA&mdlx=exact

If you don't see what you are looking for, or your model number, go back to the Tractorhouse hompage, and look in the menu again for the 3rd item down. You can post afree "want to buy" ad. You will need to register with them, and give some contact info. Pretty painless, and takes a couple of minutes. Items that some salvage yards may not have listed, because some go ahead, and disassemble tractors, and have parts on shelves, or private individuals selling items are linked up to this too. Most that have the item will contact you within 24 hrs, and I have had them call within 36 hrs, but not over that. I would suggest waiting the 36 hrs. to get all results. I've gotten quite a price difference on some items, and one salvage yard even dropped his price, to match another's, to get the business. Write the dealers ph. number down, and price. If another dealer thnks you are BS'ing them on a price, give them the info, and have them call... All I have done this with on the tail end of the 36 hr period, ususlly just go ahead, and drop the price.

Location has a lot to do with it on the shipping cost too, depending on the actual parts size/weight.

What's wrong with walking around a tractor bone yard? I think it sounds neat!
