Ahh good times...
1. You don't think that somewhere between the guy who designed your mill and the guy in charge of production that they didn't maybe swap out a part for a Chinese one to save a dime?

2. Is Canada this mythical place where all the borders are locked and they don't ever buy something from overseas? Not even an internal engine component? You know the thing that Norwood buys completely assembled from the manufacturer and just bolts to their mill. I'm just curious...
1. The guy that designed my mill is ALSO in charge of production and the OWNER of Norwood. (actually was at the time, he is semi retired now) He told me straight out, NO parts from china! period! SO, yes I'm sure about what I posted.

2. LOT'S of stuff in Canada is from china, I'm only talking about MY mill, and they have used things from other than US or Canada, like my optional toe boards.

I tested the first set of toe boards they designed/made (I still have them) and asked the owner if the jacks came from china, he said NO, Taiwan.

I've also tested other pre-production "things" for them, so I'm not just "Jonny homeowner" making things up to post here.

Having said that, Norwood does sell a lower end mill that they are having built in china that is nicely designed, but that's not their Lumbermate line of mills.

Lastly, I have milled logs on both, their LM line and their china made mills. (and much of their competition too)

BTW, I don't mind answering these questions at all...

A friend just got his Norwood mill a few weeks ago and I was amazed at the robust design and the fit and finish of it. Very nice machine!

Let it go boys.
No minds are being changed.
I know we won't change his mind, but I wanted to know how he could be so sure that not a single washer or gasket came from China. I asked, he answered.

Yeah, yeah, rub it in. :D Was the engine swap easy? Do you find the 15HP is powerful enough?
The 15hp Audison is great! Just did some 18" maple and it went thru no problem, no bogging. Not so with the 7hp Kohler. The Kohler struggled with 8" hardwoods. Diesel instead of water lube helps a lot, too. Water seems to swell up the sawdust, causing more drag on the blade.

The upgrade had several challenges: motor's crank was too short, and 25mm OD, instead of the common 1 inch. The muffler was too big, and interfered with the top rail. If anyone does this upgrade, I suggest the very nice Duromax 420, which is what I used to re-power my mini-X (see thread).

Almost everything on this WoodMizer seems to be made or assembled in the great state of Indiana, except for the Kohler engine (China).

Just happened to drive past the WoodMizer plant today. A bunch of units sitting outside in the lot. I wonder if they are all sold and backed up waiting for transportation.

I hope that end isn't backlogged also... they are supposed to build mine next week. 👍

Yeah, I hear they are WAY behind the orders. If you ordered an LT, like LT15, LT35, LT40, you will be lucky to see it by spring. I wish they had done a bit better bolt-tightening, but I do like my new machine.

As I mentioned before, I ordered mine on March 23 and they say they will build it next week... about 18 weeks later. Now another poster says that they are about 42 weeks out, but I predict that a lot of orders will be cancelled as the price of lumber drops.
At least they didn't require me to pay for the entire thing up front. (I wouldn't have.)

I know you are trying to be clever, but I'm serous, there are no china parts on my mill...

I've been to Canada to Norwood, I know the guy who designed my mill and I've talked to him extensively about where the parts come from.

I could go on about it, but I won't...

NOW, if you could speak chinese, you could talk to the guy that designed yours! lol lol
