They were made by Tellefsdal in Norway. I bought them in 2005 for $365 from my Kubota dealer. I don't believe they are available in the US anymore. They are similar to Aquiline Talon studded chains. gg

Very nice, how do you like them?

I love those chains. For me they are the difference between having a tractor that is useful in the winter and in the woods and having a tractor that stays in the garage.

What I like best is that they are designed to give good traction with Ag tires. The traction comes from the two studded chains that run around the circumference of the tire. The tire lugs are always solidly on top of these circumference chains so they dig into the hard snow or ice as opposed to ladder and even some diamond chains where most of the chain hides down between the tire lugs and help very little because there is no weight on them. These chains also have smaller squares than the Aquilines I have seen which I think is better for small tires like mine ( 12.4 X 24 )

So if you have Ag tires and a long winter this "H" patterned chain is the way to go I think.

I just sent out a couple emails on a pair of Aquiline Talons 16.9 x 30. I haven't seen any in stock online. We'll see if I hear anything back on them. They look real nice

Stopped to wash the tires, after all...a clean tractor with wood is a happy tractor ;)

Love to see people working the wood lot and not destroying everything. I've had the same winch as you for 15 years, never had any problems as yet. I cut between 4-5 cords a year, haul them tree length to a landing where I'll cut them so to lift them on my cord saw. These 2 machines are a blessing to the woods man. I also have a hydraulic splitter which also saves a lot of sweat.

If I have the option I use the grapple. I only use the winch to reach logs up/down steep hills or across rough patches off terrain. I think the grapple opens up to about 30" and it's a joy to not hop on and off for the chokers.

A benefit of the winch is that it weighs about double the grapple and is nice to bring the log to the landing and load it onto the trailer. With the grapple I have to keep a good sized block to grab for counter weight - which isn't that bad.

If I only had one choice I would go with the winch.
