I thought that you mentioned "parring" down your collection when I last saw a photo, hence my "if you still have them all"
She's prolly right eh?

There's no "prolly" in there Rusty. It's all "but of course".
I am down to one working chainsaw and two dead ones. I even used that Tru Fuel stuff last fall and that's the common denominator for the dead ones. I think it may be hard on diaphragms. I feel like a bearded man with no whiskers.

Nice load on that trailer OldP. How do you load it in your tight woods and with one tractor. I am trying to figure out how to use a trailer more but I have to many narrow dead end trails.

Love your tongue weight adjuster or holder downer. Or did you just fall in love with that rock and feel a need to bring it out  Or maybe you have a draw bar under the winch and not using a ball on the winch. Hard to see on my screen.

When I load the 24' logs, it goes something like this, keep them low as possible, find the flattest ground I can and clear the least amount of trees that I can get away with. Sure another tractor would be better or trailer with loader, but either way a trailer will keep my logs cleaner and hauls a lot easier, instead of dragging one tree, with a trailer I can haul three>>>> Logging - YouTube

"Love your tongue weight adjuster or holder downer"<<<<Yes isn't that some Yankee ingenuity, didn't think anyone would notice that, after I loaded the trailer, the tractor had a feeling of light on the rear, then as I was going threw a run-off brook heading out, almost out, the trailer came unhooked and the tongue was over 2' in the air, first time that's happened with three but cuts on front, but I started thinking since two of these trees was cut down last summer, one was blown over last Oct, with the tops not cut off, the tops must of sucked out most of water from the buts cause the tops still had some green on them.

Sooooooo before I could hook the trailer back on, had to get the tongue down without speaking in tongues, I see this rock right next to trailer, loaded it on the trailer and down it comes, imagine that finding a rock in the woods, how rare is that, your right rocks are everywhere in New England...........

Good answer about loading with the log low and all but I guess I didn't ask the question right. I'll try again. 1) are you loading the trailer where you cut each tree in the woods or are you loading from a pile that you previously skidded to a landing or bunching area ? 2) When loading the trailer I assume you unhook it from the tractor. How do you keep the trailer from moving around or do you just let it do/go what it wants ? 3) Is your trailer hitch on a long draw bar that sticks out beyond the winch or is it on the winch. If it is on the winch how do you keep the winch down ? I am just trying to understand your methods - looks like they work pretty good. Thanks

I did not notice the rock on the first look. That is a good idea to balance out the load. Nice.

I have no doubt you know what you do Oldpath so I値l be curious to hear what you think about manufacturer specs such as drawbar and trailer load ?

I have a tendancy to believe my L3800 is fairly similar than yours and you are handling ways above what I think mine is capable of.

Regards,

Regards,

I think I'm well under weight for drawbar specs, the way my trailer is balanced, lucky if I can get 400 lb of tongue weight and if a tractors front end stays on the ground then it cant be pulling more than a tractor can pull. With logs on my trailer my tractor just idles all the way out, sometimes I step on the gas petal just to hear the motor run, I think trailer logging is so much easier on a tractor compaired to dragging a log on the ground and the logs/wood stays cleaner.

"or are you loading from a pile that you previously skidded to a landing or bunching area"1> Yes from a bunched area in the woods. 2>> yes trailer is unhooked from tractor, I'll try another video link of loading logs>>>> Logging - YouTube 3>>trailer hitch is on the winch when in use, picture time>>>>>>>>>>

Makes sense.

Everything convincing me to buy a log trailer makes a lot of sense !!!

Thanks
