Thats a nice little jack, it's all the jack I need for my trees but I mostly go with what direction tree wants, although around house's and power lines a jack would be nice to have.
Christmas Day 2004, I had to cut a 72 foot tall spruce which was only 71 feet from my house. I cut my notch, then after getting my back cut deep enough so that I knew it wouldn't be a problem I cut a slot for my hi-lift. I then finished my cut while alternatively jacking and when I was done the tree was laying next to my house, with the central leader on top of the flag I had set for a target.

I'm starting to ease out of firewood and swing over to sawmill now. I wanted some 6' oak planks but due to Norwood's design flaw, lack of funds, lack of time and dont live in good deal USA, we sawed out a hemlock plank and shaped in two removable bunks that should be able hold up a redwood tree, took about two hrs and now we can saw 6' logs where as before 8' was the shortest.

A pieced together a short boring sawmill video until battery died.

You have Redwoods down in Liberty? That's good to know, I thought that I would need to head for the west coast to see one.

A hi lift for directional falling of timber is a good way to get killed quick they don’t have the surface area required to lift a tree correctly.

Awesome that $20.00/gal fuel does work wonders, do you think you can beat my Echo 501p....................

No idea, never even ran a 501, but the 562 is a 60cc saw, I really prefer to run a 20" bar on my 60cc saws...

This cedar was done with a brand new 562 running a 32 they’re a very capable little saw that run very smooth and are hot.

Nice info on the jacks to drop a tree. I have never seen that done before. Out here on the East coast we do not have tall trees like you folks up on the NW.

It’s always for size I’ve put the doubles into a 24” tree before that was on a line with a decent back lean and limb weight hanging back the big thing is slowing down to do it correctly.

I didn't do anything special, other than run nothing but "Husky fuel" in it for it's first several tanks. When I first got it, I also did as the manual said to do, and ran a few full throttle longer cuts so the carb would make it's first adjustments.

I never run it or any other saw, hard and then shut it right off, I always let them idle a bit to cool down some before being shut off. I also let them rev., NO lugging and I've had very good service out of the saws I've owned, at least out of the power plants.

One thing we were told to do when breaking them is run them hard find something that would load them good. It’s an air cooled two stroke it’s not going to hurt it shutting it right down after a hard run.

I think there's differing opinions on that...

I cut mostly hardwood, and there's no way my 562 would pull a 32" bar in my tree's...

It was just for insurance along with wedges on each side.. As I pointed out previously, trees here are a lot shorter.

It’s going to come down to setup I do cut hardwoods as well with that setup.

Nice size tree. What are you doing with the cedar?

That one went to Graham in Kalama Washington 95 percent of their inventory goes to Texas for fence posts go figure.
