Looking good! It sounds like you will need them after this week's rain.

I really like your rebar bolts. Just remember.... gg
I really like them to til I heard a ping while I was finishing up on the toe cables, I looked over and the welded washer head was on the floor, I wouldn't have been anymore surprised if I saw someone throw a rock up in the air and it stayed there. Maybe welding it with 11018 welding rod cant be used on regular steel, maybe 70 wire would've been better, I'm still baffled, since when rebar cant be welded, the 5/8 nut should've stripped before breaking a welded washer off. If it happens again I'll look around for some 6' threaded rod.

Re-rod is made from junk steel, it's porous and doesn't weld well at all...

I've been lurking on this thread for quite some time. I really appreciate all the posts. Did some moving of wood last Saturday YouTube My son-in-law did the filming and editing. I would not done nearly as nice of a job.

I've also purchased a WoodlandMills WC68 chipper and a 3501 Igland winch. The chipper arrives Thursday and the possibly the Winch will arrive then too. Lots of new toys I have been wanting for many years. I have a ton of brush to chip from all the trees I took down to give my wife's vegetable garden more light. Also helped the neighbor with a bunch of trees as well so there is a lot there to chip too. We let the chips break down and they make some nice soil in time. I will make some videos as able.

Hey OP.. looking good!! Nice project! So how much weight at what span will it carry do you think?

And are you sitting it on some sort of pylons or just on the ground?

And I'm thinking you need to update your clamps..

Suggestion for Oldpath. Cut a hole in the plate for the rebar to extend thru, then weld the rod and plate together on the back side. Doing this makes it so the tension is pulling into the weld rather than away from the weld. As was mentioned, rebar is junk steel so a weld may stick to it or it may not.

BTW, nice project.

Thats a nice press the lack of paint tells me you built it, another one of them shop tools thats not needed all the time but at times it sure is needed. My younger son keeps talking about buying a HF press for his on going Jeep project.

The dyes are shop built for doing the harvester bars they allow the bar to roll well straightening.

Much of today's rebar is made from (mostly) new billet steel...(use to be designated with an "N")...type "S" is even more stringent in the compound...
