Tractor's Out in the Cold Tonight

could be the UV will do most of the damage if left out in the open. paint, hoses, tires, etc. guess depends on your latitude. but know the feeling. best under cover of some kind. am sure it will weather the storm as illustrated
i am accepting donations for a structure. hey it's near xmas

UV is a killer.

I am curious as to the snow accumulation with this storm. The weather models did pretty well with this storm; even at 240 hours out. This is a strong storm. Too cold to snow here in NE.

They look very close so far. I didn't see a Weather Service forecast, but the Weather Channel said 18-24" Our local guy is a bit more conservative, and said 15 to 20". At the moment we have 13.5" and still snowing pretty well.

Here's as close as I'm likely to get to my tractor for another 24 hours:

I would NEVER leave my 68 year old 8N outside overnight.
Not my 49 yr. old 3400 TLB, or my 30 yr. old 1920 4x4 FEL either.
They are ALL in nearly pristine condition (I do use them) ....because they are NOT left outside.

I have read many times, and believe, it's the UV rays that are hard on equipment rather than any moisture and/or cold.

Every piece of equipment I own with hydraulics is parked under cover.

Last year I bought a 1984 555A TLB. I doubt it had spent meny nights inside. It smiles every time I walk past it in the machine shed. :)

Oh wow!!!!

I run a township road grader covering 50 miles of road. In our country it rarely snows more than a few hours. Were your snow happening here I'd be trying to sleep all day knowing I was gonna spend all night in the grader. Had to do that two weeks ago. Only had 6-8" but it came with 40mph wind.

Me too. We've always been able to "shed" our tractors here on the farm. I go to the extreme of coating the tires on my tractor with 303 protectorant. Pop kept the D4D and 941B out in the weather but they are both currently still in use by my neighbor that bought them both several years ago.

I agree to a point. However that moisture will work it's way into cracks, then it freezes, causing more problems. Parking on grass is another problem, causing rust as well as creating great habit for mice to visit.

Hey TerryR, keep the pictures coming and the downtown cam is cool. I sure wish we had some of that white stuff!

Glad you are enjoying, ruffdog.

Here are a couple on our back deck:

That yardstick measures 16" but it's slowing down. Don't know how much more we'll get.
