Trailer 4 BX

Looks like I'm hoggin the forum this weekend. This ones a little off since its not directly related to Kubota but I was wondering; Does anyone have a recomendation for a trailer (since I didn't get the FEL). I am thinking between 10 to 20 CF. Perhaps this is a throw away item that you just get and abuse and when it cracks or rusts away etc. I dunno.
Anyways if there is a clear winner in this catagory let me know. If it don't matter, let me know. I will be hauling wood, leaves mulch and dirt. I do not forsee much stone hauling after my initial flagstone delivery next weekend.

I've got one of those inexpensive metal 10 cu. ft. carts that I pulled with my Toro. I also have a 5X8 trailer that I pull behind the car. The small cart was useful, but a little too small for my 5 1/2 acres. Since getting the BX, I put a hitch on it and use the 5X8. It's a little on the large side but I can haul all kinds of stuff around the property. I would try to error on the large side, you will find ways to use the capacity.

I bought one of the cheap Agri-Fab 17 cu ft trailers for hauling the basics around the property - retails for around $200 from Northern Tool - and have minor regrets. It has a very simple dump mechanism for light stuff (which I have already broken - I said it was simple!). Load capacity is around 1500lb so would be fine for wood. Right now it is mostly used by my wife for taking the kids for rides /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

If you don't have a pick-up I would recommend getting a hitch adapter for your tractor and making the purchase on a utility trailer you can use on your other vehicles too.

I too have a dump cart from Toro and also a 4x8 from Home Depot ($400.00 -- u assemble). The small Toro is never used anymore -- in its place is the FEL and worth every penny -- no BX owner should be without!! As for the trailer -- the 4X8 is perfect -- moves an immense amount of material and is also used to haul other stuff around with the car. The one mistake I made was to go with the 1000 gross lbs "folding" trailer from HD - I would recommend to go one step up to the 1500lbs model -- larger wheels and a more stabile frame.

I agree with the guys who say buy one you can pull with your car or pickup, too. I bought a 5 x 10 tiltbed trailer 6 years ago for $400. A guy bought it new to move from the city to the country, got moved and wanted to sell it; used but just like new. I'm not sure what weight it's rated for, but I pulled it empty from Texas to the middle of Washington state and then back with a 2,000 pound load a few years ago (ran it across the scales up there before starting back and had 2,800 on the axle).

Dual use, now that's a great idea. Drive to the garden place, fill the trailer with whatever, take it home. Hook up the tractor and drive to lower field. Man, I like it /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif!!

Just thought I'd add another option. Country Manufacturing offers wagons in 2 sizes meant for tractor use. They have 4 wheels, so you can pull it to where you are going to work, drop it, fill/empty it, and then hook it back up easily.

They offer a hydraulic dump option for it as well. The site is http://www.countrymfg.com
