Trailer advice

I just bought my father in laws Massey Ferguson 1010 4WD, with loader, belly mower and rear lift.

I need to move it about 180miles over main roads to my place, and have never trailered anything in my life.

The MF measures about 10 feet long x 4ft wide and weighs about 2100lbs with the loader and lift attached.

My 6cyl,4wd Ford F150 should do the job after I get a hitch installed.

This will be a one way/one time trip.

Any advice on trailer type, hitch type etc.

Rent a U-Haul car-carrier trailer...

The tractor isn't all that heavy, just a ton, so weight won't be an issue at all.

Be sure to get a trailer with double axles. Not only are the stronger, but they track much, much, much better than a single axle trailer. For that distance, be sure to do this!!!

Also make sure your truck is NOT in overdrive when towing. It adds extra wear and tear to your drivetrain.

Chain the axles down to the trailer. Most tractors don't have much of a suspension, if any at all, so this might not matter.

If your nervous about the drive, ask a friend. Nervous drivers are the ones that make mistakes which lead to accidents.

I like the idea of renting a U-Haul car hauler. They are great trailers. I towed my old 1942 jeep 2,000 miles with one and never had a problem.

Someone mentioned renting a U-Haul trailer. A car trailer is usually 2-axle, with hydraulic surge brakes. All you need is a way to connect lights... I've seen them rent for $50/day or so...

Another option is to have it hauled. Check out the "Hauling Schedule" over on YT Mag . You might get your tractor hauled by someone for a decent price.

The reason I recommended the U-haul car carrier trailer is because they have dual wheels, hydraulic surge brakes, and axle tie-downs already on them. They use a common 2" ball....

Easiest solution, short of having someone haul it for him...

I'm in upstate NY - hauling the tractor from Oswego area to albany area.

I've been looking at the Uhaul car carriers mayself, looks like tghe right tool for the job.
