It would take a stout switch also. There is a lot of current going to the brakes.

Then you only need 1-2 lightweight wires going to the switch rather than 2 heavy ones.

I have a 35$ hoppy controller on my ford 5000 for when I pull my 16' tandem trailer for hay rides.

I put brakes on My L3400 in the fall of 2008. Coming down a steep mountain road with a trailer full of wood was not cool. On a couple of occasions, all it would take is a rock under one of the rear wheels for the trailer to push the tractor into a skid, or try to jacknife it.

The last picture is a momentary push button that I use to activate the controller. I thought about using a switch activated by the brake pedals, but I didn't want it left on when I use the parking brake.

Use a normally closed relay that is triggered by the parking brake switch.

ok.. make one you can't forget about.. IE.. make the brake controller powered off the key switch.. unless you have the key switch off when you head into the ravine you will be ok.
