Trailer choices

nice trailer! Glad you found something that works for you. I used both for tiedowns, and I seem to prefer chains. If you going with straps, then you would need 4 straps, one for each corner of BX plus one extra for FEL. Overkill? maybe, but not according to DOT, commercial or not its the preferred way. As a regular homeowner, You are not required to have four plus one for each implement. They just want to see something in front and back - period.

Have a safe trailering.

Since I don't have my own thread on this topic I thought I'd update my experiences here after one year use of a 6X12 aluminum trailer for a sub-compact tractor. Mow4fun's also picked a 6x12 after much input from members here, some thinking larger is necessary others not. Anyways after one year of using the trailer for taking stuff to the dump, picking up building supplies and trailering my GC2600 on multiple occasions I'd pick the same trailer again if given the choice. I was a little worried yesterday the trailer wasn't long enough to carry my chipper on the tractor for which removing the chipper chute (1 minute) and hanging the fel over the front was required to make it fit but surprisingly enough the weight distribution was perfect, and I got to and from my destination with ease.

For non-commercial occasional tractor trailering a 6x12 will suffice for a sub-compact albeit a 14 or 16 footer would be a better fit with long attachment hanging off the 3 point hitch but it can be done with a 6x12 all the while keeping overall weight within the hauling capacity of a SUV. If I had a larger more capable tow vehicle I may have chosen a larger heavier dual axle trailer but for my multiple specific needs (outlined elsewhere in this thread) a relatively light, single axle, aluminum 6X12, fits well and has performed all the tasks with ease I envisioned for it, plus I can move it around my property by hand easily when the need arises (which is often). It also can carry the tractor with the backhoe attachment on.
