Hi guys, I want to buy a trailer to haul my TLB around. My first haul is going to be about 125 miles. I can't bust the budget here but I want something that will do the job. My needs may be one or two hauls per year. My Massey with loader and backhoe is about 2700 lbs. I'd appreciate hearing what you use.
Thanks in advance!

We use a trailer from TSC. The double axle. Rated for 5500lbs ( I believe) and with the trailer weighing around 1500lbs, plenty of left over for what your looking for. For a new trailer, not bad on price.

14ftx6 in size.

We haul our 1705 with various attachments and also the bobcat 324 mini.

Rides great and haven't had a problem in 4 years

Sure-Trac 7' x 16' 7K dual axle is what I use. Payload is right at 5180 lbs with trailer weight of 1820 lbs. It is nimble enough for us with a Yanmar 425 with FEL/MMMower/Quick Hitch (typical configuration; no backhoe at present) at ~2700 lbs. Enough remaining capacity. The length is also alright for my needs. You may want to look at 16' and 18' long trailers for your needs. You could get the 16' trailer for ~$4400 give or take, plus ~$150 for a spare etc.

I’d get a tandem axle with brakes rated at 7000 pounds. The trailer will weigh about 2000 pounds so that gives you 5000 pounds of payload. 16 or 18 feet will work. They used to be bought for a little over $2000 but have gone up a lot unless you can luck into a good used one.

i'll jump on the bandwagon for the 16-18' 7k trailer too. the extra length always helps with making sure you can get the load centered where it fits best, and it's not noticeably different in size or weight than going with anything smaller. you will have the ability to haul a car or small truck / suv if the need ever arises. I like tip-up ramps for ease or use, but slide-in ramps are more versatile if you end up trying to haul longer stuff that might hang over.

Given your budget and hauling needs, you should aim for a dual axle equipment trailer in the 16 to 18-foot range with a 5,000-7,000 lb capacity. This will give you a solid trailer that’s capable of safely hauling your Massey TLB for both short and longer hauls, with extra space and weight capacity for safe handling.
