I see your point.
But if each chain had a working strength not less than the tractor weight you should be ok, since the breaking strength is actually much higher.
For a 10k lbs ag tractor you would need to finance a set of chains rated for 4 times the load. Many dollars per foot.

I will see if I can take some photos and Email them to you. I have made several sets and sold them to people in my area. I sell them for 50.00 painted with mounting hardware, it gives me something to do during the rainy season. When I got the tractor I asked Deere if they sold a tie down Kit and they said no you just rap a chain around the front axle, I did'nt want to do that.

I have a 16' with nice hefty chain pockets similar to your stake pockets. I chose not to use the d-ring as I would have to install them in the wood deck.. and figured they wouldn't be as strong.
I use the 10k# ratchet binders on the back, and chains in the front.
For chains or the binders, just make sure you are using ones rated for the weight.

Attached is a link that should answer any questions on trailering/tiedown requirments. It would probably anwer a lot of other quetions too....if you were really really bored.
Minimum load strengths for tie-downs (chains or straps) should be in here. I think the regs say that the tie-downs must be secured to the frame and should contain 2.5 times the weight of the object being hauled.
trailer size is not your only concern...you should not haul more than what is recommended for you vehicle (I think this is called "braking horsepower".
