Sounds like Northern States have a better hold (sometimes too extreme) on the trailer issue. In the south, we are way behind.....opposite ends of the spectrum if you will concerning trailer laws. I don't disagree that some laws are ridiculous, and sometimes new laws are not the answer, but that's a debate for another post. I can tell you that if you live in a state with strict trailer laws you should probably count your blessings. Try living in a state where any redneck idiot can load a car, wooden pallets and scrap metal onto a small utility trailer all at once like the ones you might see at Lowes or home depot, and watch as the idiot drags this load through traffic with the wheels about to fold up, and if it has a tag and lights.....you cant do a thing about it under the trailer laws of Alabama. That my friends happens at least two times a week just in my patrol area alone. Its ridiculous and dangerous to say the least. Im not about the government sticking their noses in every aspect of someones business in America, but I DO think a lot of our laws are not only needed, but absolutely necessary to protect innocent law abiding citizens from those who just don't care about laws and do what they want. I realize a few TBN members are seemingly "anti-Government/Law" but keeping on topic here......There is no denying the problem can be managed better if states like Alabama step up to the plate and hold people responsible with unsafe trailers.
