I have a JD 790 w/ front-end loader, more then likely be hauling one of the three possible rear attachments: backhoe, auguer, mowing deck. Or nothing at all. I have a 16' gooseneck flatbed that can pull upwards to 7k(round there anyway). What length of chains and link size should I get and where would be the best places to attach it to the tractor, and or attachments(if any) and what other accessory equipment would you suggest I should have on hand for hauling. Thanks.

5/16 grade 70 transport chain (min) with appropriate binders. Four is best just for the tractor, two can be used.
Attaching them to the frame can be a trick sometimes.
I sling mine through the grill guard and utilize the drawbar with a clevis.
Some folks that transport theirs on a regular basis have made attach points to the frame to make chaining lots easier.

I'd recommend four Grade 70 3/8" chains secured by chain binders. Myself, I prefer the ratchet type chain binders - they seem more secure and can hold a heavier load. I believe Agri-Supply.com carries the binders and 3/8" Grade 70 chain in 20 foot lengths. I bought two and cut them in half to make four 10 footers which was more than enough for my 30hp tractor on my 18' trailer. I also bought extra hooks (same supplier) to secure to the cut ends. Sometimes, you can get good buys on the chain binders from places like HarborFreight.com when they're on sale. Retail for about $30 and go for about $20 when on sale. Secure chains through stake pockets if possible, then through tractor frame and tighten with binders. Do this on all four corners. Use old split hose over the chain if you've got one of those pretty tractors that you don't want to scratch up ;) . You can, and should secure any implement with ratchet straps. Check your local DOT regs to make sure you're in compliance but you can't be too safe. I couldn't live with myself if I lost my load and took out someone behind me.

My JD 3320 with FEL and loaded tires weighs about 4,500 lbs. I have four sections of 10' long (20' cut in half) 5/16 grade 70 chains and four lever binders.

As you can see from the photo, I did a cross on the rear chains so as to secure to the axle and not bind against the tires. Same deal on the front crossing around the front diff. Many say that this is overkill and one chain front and rear is enough. As it is MY tractor, I'll stay with four chains.

If I did it over again, I would have got the ratchet binders, easier to adjust.

Ditto.
I have 6 chains + 6 ratchet binders, 4 for the tractor 2 additional for implements. I have heavy duty straps that I also use for implments but I hate to use them. I learned that the sharp corners of some of the implments can slice right through a 10,000# strap during a very short tow (fortunately I also had it chained).

My chains have a large J Hook on one end, it slips right over the axle and holds the tractor. Mine are also grade 70 transport, 3/8 and are from AW Direct and look similar to the photo below, the difference with mine is on the small hook end I have a cluster that includes a grab hook + a T hook.

I too have a 790 and similar attachments. I use four straps or chains. Two at the front from the loader mounts and the rear depends on the attachment. Usually drawbar or tph if a tph implement. The backhoe presents problems for me. The logical attachment points (mounts) are so low, it doesn't seem to make enough angle with the chains/straps. I've actually strapped around the ROPs before to get more angle. I like enough angle to keep it in position and hold it down. I want my tractor to be one with the trailer.

If you find a better way with the backhoe, let me know. It sounds like your trailer will be more than capable. Good luck.

Thanks for the all posts on this, as there is all this "stuff" that I could get, I just didn't know where to start and what would be the best equipment and way to attach, up until now, I had it hauled for me. Once again thanks to everyone for the posts, and if I manage to find a way to secure that backhoe, i'll post back RobS and let you know.
