We have deer corn feeders and protein feeders and they love em. We just let the 17 wsm and a good red light do the work at night. You will never get them all but I agree with the above post about just shooting them quick and clean and getting it over with.

So you put out feed for deer and shoot all the raccoons you attract?

I've had a raccoon arrive "uninvited". I caught it drove it a few miles away. It came back in in 2 days. Turned out the 3 mile drive was only 6000 ft as the crow flies. Today I caught it again and drove it 3.5 miles, "as the crow flies". I hear 5 miles is the minimum but can't think of a place where it's away from homes. I don't want to gift my problem to someone else.

Not getting approval to give it swimming lesson in a 55 gal barrow. Now she is just after my bird feeder. but we have 6 peach/cheery trees planted last spring and I know when the peaches are on, all her friends will come out.

I read if your strategy is the kill raccoons, you will still loose the battle. Too many of them out in the forest. We have 6 ft dia fences around each tree and plan to place a hot wire at the top of each.

Any other tricks to keep raccoons out?

We've had great success keeping racoons out of our garden with an electric fencer. We have a wire fence around the garden that is buried 6" in the dirt, and several strands of hot wire at varying heights. Yet we still get the occasional woodchuck inside the garden. They are tough critters.

At my current house I have never seen a coyote or raccoon and only 1 deer in two plus years. Tribal law has benefits.

There's something ethically and morally wrong with that.

They are vermin where I live and are dealt with as such. I guess I could get a good load of em up and haul em up to your place and you could give them a nice, safe home and plenty to eat I’m sure...take it easy on the ethics and morality lessons.

In Ohio the catch and release is illegal. Raccoons must be disposed of.

Best way I found release by swamp area which has food raccoons like.
