I don't want this to digress into an arguement about safety. I specifically avoided the comment on the roll bar for that reason. You're right though, I don't wear the seatbelt either. I grew up around tractors and I have a lot more hours in the seat of a tractor that didn't come equiped with either than I do in the seat of one that has them. The roll bar is only down because the building I am storing it in right now doesn't have the head room for it to stay up. My land is flat enough and I drive slow enough that I don't see the need for either safety device. My opinion on safety is my own and I don't push it on anyone else. If your doing a lot of mowing on slopes, doing heavy pulling, or something I agree with the seatbelt and rops. Otherwise I don't use them.

I see that you still have snow on the ground where you are. Since you just moved there in Decemeber, I wonder how the ground will look when it gets warmer and the ground water gets a chance to evaporate? Your water problem may only be during the spring thaw. You love 4WD don't you.

Great looking pictures. Keep them coming.:)

I will have more pictures on by the weekend. There was almost this much water when I looked at the place in October, so I am not optimistic about it drying up. The good news is the snow is now gone. It has only finished melting in the last two weeks. And yes, I do love the 4WD!

His rops is folded for the same reason I keep mine folded .... see all those trees he's working in? It only took once for my rops to catch a limb and tip me on end for me to fold mine. I believe y'all would do the same. I happened to have a shredder on the back when I went up - so it stopped me - but the front was high enough to scare the !@#$% outta me!

Here's a picture of the borrowed backhoe in use. I am deepening the ditch to drain the water away from the lawn and the begin of trhe trail into the woods. I spent almost 3 hours on it last night and still have a lot of work. I got pulled off this to put together the new playset tonight andd tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be back in the woods for a few hours on Saturday. I need to clean all the dirt piles up and build up the low spots in the trail with the dirt before I get back to either digging ditches or clearing trees.

I was in the woods yesterday with my BX22, and caught the ROPS on a branch that was out of my line of vision........ lifted the right front pretty quickly! I have the BX "sticky hydro pedal problem" and it's not much fun when that happens...... and the tractor doesn't stop when you take your foot off the pedal. I know it's necessary, but that ROPS is one of the things I like least about the tractor.

Well, I had to take a couple o' days off digging to build a playset. All of the "bosses" were fairly insistent that it get done last week. I managed to do some work around the prep and hosting a 10th birthday party this weekend though. Things are drying up around me, but not so much in my yard and woods. It looks like the water table is about 6" below the surface of my yard right now. Here are some pics of the ditch progress.

The first two were taken from the same spot. One facing East toward the back and one facing Southwest toward the lawn. The last is from the East end of the ditch facing West.

Nice job. Looks like you have it figured out how to get water away from garden area. Wonder if a subsoiler would help with letting water soak in? I have read where some break up the hardpan, and no more problems, gives the water a chance to soak in rather than pooling up and running off. I'm suprised that you haven't got stuck yet. That much water on my place kind of turns it to quicksand.

Tire in a half covered up hole. Front tire, back tire, any tire, It doesn't make a difference. Tractor learchs. Over it goes. To bad.

It would have to be one massive hole to flip a forty horse tractor with loaded tires and a front end loader on it. My choice, my problem.
