I took some pictures on a job I recently worked on. Cut a lot of trees. This is a 48" cotonwood I cut with my Stihl 044 with a 20" bar.

Another shot of the same tree. You can not see it but a house is just off to the right out of camera.

A neighbors New Holland Skid steer moving the log. That is as high as it could lift the log.

That is my Stihl 066 with a 24" bar. This tree had a vertical crack from the base up about 14 feet from the tornado that went through a couple of weeks ago. When I was cutting and found it was hollow I got a little nervous, but it fell exactly as I had planned.

Little Mule doing her part. She was grunting with some of the bigger logs like this one but pulled her own.

Not bad for a day's worth of work. This picture really does not do the log pile justice.

Anybody want some cottonwood? Come and cut your own; reasonable rates! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Those Stihl 044s are extremely efficient cutting tools. I wouldn't trade my Stihl 044 except for a comparably made Stihl replacement. I cut about 5-6 cords firewood each year with the 044 and since purchasing it in 1995 I've never had it tuned up once. Thing cuts away like a tyrannosaurus on steroids.

Thanks for posting.

Wow! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

My wife won't let me down trees that close to the house. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's a pretty good pile, especially for only a day's worth of work.

That was a monster Cotton Wood! A shame you had to cut it. Stihl makes a great little saw. I have had my O-66 for over 8 years now and have cut countless cords or wood with it and she keeps on purring away. Dropping big trees like that makes me nervous too! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Just takes one mistake.
