Just out of curiosity, how do you get a stump that is green and underground, with access to air on only one side to burn?"
What I meant was that by leaving the stumps and dirt out of the slash pile, the slash will be easier to burn. Take less time too.
Not that you can't burn a stump out from above, there are folks who like to put an open ended barrel, both sides oper and dump a load of charcoal briquettes in there. You can burn it out if you can supply enough heat.
