I enjoy seeing my friends and family and if they're driving by and in the area, pop on in.

When we went to Ireland we used a map and did fine. They did have an option for a GPS but I'm glad we didn't use one

If the Home happend to be the White House, that would all start to make sense. Probably few pop-ins there.

Unfortunately my current house sets right off the road. I guess the white board fence out front looks inviting to some. I do not mind the neighborhood or the county workers stopping in to say hello but when the gates closed it means do not-stop. I have got posted signs and purple paint out but the worst are the guys who run Hog Dogs, I have caught several in the last year. IT is funny when I can see them on thermal and they have no idea I am there. I usually try to help them out but but politely remind them they are trespassing and the big ranch that boarders me on three sides is strictly no hunting but more Especially hog dogs since they have some High dollar show animals.

Funny story I bought some steel targets this winter and set up a small range, I had a few buddys from work out to break in the new range. After an hour my wife called from the house saying there was a deputy at the house. ( nice young man fresh out of the AF, and about a year on the job as a deputy) We rode back to the house and he said the druggies up the road called and complained about the shooting. I introduced myself and informed him I am a fellow LEO(Fed) and showed him my range, he called in to his station that he would be out of service and did some shooting with us, he was thrilled, we gave him some useful instructions that helped him with some shot comings and gave him a bunch of ammo to practice with. Well needless to say I now got a new friend and someone who will help look over my place when I am gone.

For some reason, hunters chasing a wounded animal think they are an exception.

If they are too close to a property line that they can't get off two shots they need to move back.

It's interesting that some places like Virginia specifically excuse hunters retrieving their dogs or game their dogs have chased over a property line from prosecution for trespassing.

They are required to be on foot and unarmed while on your property though, so at least that's something.

That's not how some here are portraying things. Here's a quote:

"In my entire life, including living at home as a child not once has someone came unannounced that my family or me wanted to see"

If that doesn't include family, friends and neighbors then it wasn't worded well.

Here's the quote back: "Of course, family and friends are going to know you're tolerance for visiting".

I have some good friends just a couple miles down the road from me. They have a simple rule: Don't visit unannounced. So we don't. It's called respect - for the landowner.

Which some here, think is "militant".

What's next? I own a gun - that makes me a "terrorist"?

We keep all of our gates locked. I've had hunters approach me and ask to retrieve their dogs on my property. I tell them that they are welcome to walk in without their guns. One guy said the tracker was showing the dogs at the back of the property. I told him that it was a mile to the back. That was the end of it.

You are right, and the landowner must allow access. I really don't have a problem with it cause I'm sure it happens frequently and I don't know anyway...
