Trespassing + theft issue

Since you are trying to start a business that would depend on purchases from the neighbors, I would try to solve it peacefully. I would have the local police, Sheriff or state police, deliver a copy of "their caught in the act" acts. And have the police explain to them that next time they will be Prosicuted, but that this one is on You. They wont be back to steal, and you may end up with a customer.

Come on guys whats happening? this is better than Dallas. All the way from Aussie.
Sometimes water or sugar in their petrol tank slows them down. Not legal but it makes one feel better.
Who said that!

I had a friend who was continually having problems with people stealing gas, he purchased a brand new gas can and filled it with gas and sugar. He left it outside his garage and sure enough it was stolen. I'm sure the thieves were surprised. So, it's not always illegal to do the gas trick if someone has the gall to steal someone else's sugared gas!

Many years ago there was a family went out into the country, climbed a fence and had a picnic in this farmers paddock. Left their rubbish over the fields and went home. To get home they had to pass the farmers house and he took a note of their number plate. He found out their address and the next time he was in town they went and had a picnic on this guys front lawn. He pointed out the similarity to the townie, picked some flowers, left his rubbish and went home.

It was reported in the local papers and after the discussions died down there was a lot less of townies wandering and hunting over private farmland.

I grew up on a farm near the highway, we had thieves coming into our shop area (about 1/4 mile from house) and stealing gas out of our farm supply (500gal barrel that gravity fed). Most of the time, the valves were locked but sometimes not... Dad switched the Diesel and Gasoline labels on the barrels (made sure the supplier knew) and then laughed at the cars that smoked badly and then just died along the road... he even caught one coming out of the driveway one night, they denied stealing anything, he let them go and then followed them. When the car smoked and died and pulled over, Dad came along a minute later and asked if they needed help... perhaps they got a tank of BAD gas... he suggested that they NEVER get gas at that location again... once the freeway went in (in place of the two lane interstate (highway 10, replaced by interstate 90), we never had much trouble...

Attempting to figure out a thief's motivation is futile. Story in the paper Sunday about a trailer stolen from a man's yard here in town. The man lived across the street from a grade school that had security cameras and 24-hour tape. Police viewed the tape and arrested the man's neighbor who had brazenly backed his SUV up to the trailer and driven off. The neighbor/thief's justification was that the man with the trailer didn't keep his yard clean. Go figure.

Some folks are just brazen and that is all they understand...

I posted before about an outing with the Model A Club...

The group was in the restaurant having lunch and one of the guys got word that the hood of his car was up and there was someone sitting in the driver's seat of his 1930 Model A Roadster... thinking someone might be stealing it... he raced out to confront the guy and the guy was totally oblivious... he said what's the big deal... he was just showing his Grand kids an old fashion car...

Anyway the Model A owner heard the guy's wife tell him it was time to go... my friend jumped into the driver's seat of the guys car and opened the hood release... the guy became hysterical and his wife started screaming...

My friend said what's the big deal... he just wanted to check-out this new car...

I always tell the kids in my family to look and don't touch... and to make sure they do... we have a hands in the pocket rule unless the owner of the car says different.

 I have to remind myself of that rule all the time. I have a hard time not touching something interesting, I guess I am a touch learner:laughing: I gotta put my hands in my pockets and keep them there whenever I see something interesting that belongs to someone else. Did get caught laying on the ground looking under a truck once by the owner we both got a chuckle out of that:laughing:

This is a good one, hope the gas went into a newish vehicle. :)
