Trimble GPS control systems

Does anyone have any experience with these Trimble systems that assist on dig on grade? How accurate are they? How easy do they work with experienced operators? How much do they run?

Anything anyone can say regarding them I'd appreciate.

We had a Trimble system when I worked for the government in an adjoining county. It was purchased with federal funds. We used it once. We were not familiar with the system. It took a good long while to get set up. It made elevation/grade measurements MUCH more accurate than we needed. It was put back up in the storage locker and has not been used since - to my knowledge.

Today - a similar system will run $3500 to $4000 - or more. It was not a GPS system - it used laser technology.
