I made a mistake in the Venice pilings question. Was sure someone would have caught it and corrected me by now.

Gondola Boats Have what looks like a fancy sculpture on the rear, right. Its used as an ore lock. Every curve has different purpose.

What is the name of that Ore Lock???? :confused3:

Confused?

If ships are female, why do so many have male names?

US Navy ship name list: Places and men

The US Navy -- List of U.S. Navy Ships

And not all man-named ships are Admirals: :)
USNS PFC Dewayne T. Williams
SS PFC Eugene A. Obregon

Bruce

Your are correct that they are mostly named after Men.
But did you ever here of a "Brother Ship"??
When people Sailors mostly they are always referred to as a "She".

What happened to them??:confused3: Not sure which one, but at least one of the sister ships sank, as well.

In our Solar system one Body has both the highest & lowest temps???
What is the Brightest body in our solar system???

   / TRIVA FUN #234
ok that's a tricky question, you didn't mention surface temps so it could be the hottest in the core and the coldest on the surface....still i think the sun would be the hottest and probably the brightest.

But both hot and cold, maybe titan? And sun gotta be brightest.

I'll take a WAG - Mercury as it (IIANM) orbits with the same face always pointed at the sun.

Excluding the sun.

I think I should have ask what body in our solar system has the most extreme temperature difference??

Titan is the brightest body, anyone know why??
Does Titan have volcanoes??

new question
The theory the Roosevelt knew about Pearl Harbor raid in advance is pretty well discounted.
But 1 high level Gov official did know. Who would that be???

At first it was just a decoration to make the ship different. Later on it may have been used for some minor things.

Come on girl wake up. You been too busy with global warming & having too much fun with frackng.:cool2::cool2:

Fake or decoration in that it was made to look like a boiler stack, but it was used.

From:
RMS Titanic Facts

Power plant - 29 coil stoked boilers, each 3 stories high. The boilers used 3 of the stacks for exhaust, the fourth was used to vent Titanics' numerous kitchens and galleys. The stacks were 22 feet wide and 62 feet high.

From:
http://www.titanic-titanic.com/titanic_myths.shtml

But although it carried no smoke or fumes from the ship's boilers, it wasn't completely idle, as it provided ventilation for the turbine engine room, together with the reciprocating engine room.

From:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funnel_(ship)

...a stoker who survived the sinking of the Titanic escaped the boiler room by ascending the false funnel

I'm back now! Those boys over there don't appreciate me much! :confused3: However, you keep asking questions that I have no knowledge base on, and I don't want to "cheat" and look it up. :confused2:
